I recently watched a drama series called 'Counterpart', poached from a premium cable channel in the US. From this coming Friday it will be available in the UK on Amazon, and I really recommend it!

It's a proper 'pay attention!' show, as many of the actors play two characters. Two, identical (looking) characters. I'll give no more away, but if you're a Prime customer do check it out!

I've just picked up Jack Ryan and I've only watched 2 episodes so far, I'm thoroughly enjoying it - I'm loving the characters introductions and I was pleased to see Cathy and Jim Greer. I was wondering if we'd see Clark, but I suspect that we won't as he deserves a series all of his own...

Just to add to the book conversations - I'm a huge fan of the early books, they get harder and worse as they go on (in my view) - My favourite books, which I will happily read 2-3 times a year are Without Remorse and Red Storm Rising. Patriot Games is one of my other favourites too and I like how we see the effects of the story throughout the rest of his book life.

I'm not sure Without Remorse could be done in to a film as I think the film wouldn't do it justice - Every time I read it, I get sad when Pam is killed even though I know it's coming. I don't think they could or would be able to do the Decompression Chamber bit any justice...

Red Storm rising would make, I think, a great mini series as although it's dated, it's of a recognisable era and is very believable - I think viewers would struggle with the Vigdis storyline and wouldn't really understand how it all fits in with the rest of the book/tv series though.

The looming tower

pretty good, lead up to 9/11.

'' The Looming Tower is a taut, tense restaging of the internecine squabbles between the FBI and the CIA in the lead-up to 9/11.''

A lot of support for it in this thread, which prompted me to take a look. I'm four episodes in and am rapidly tiring of it.

Just finished Vikings, a couple of dud episodes but overall a very enjoyable series.
Anyone know when the next series will be released as they hinted at Rollo coming back from France at the end?

DId you notice the original Jim Greer being in it as well?
Yeah spotted that, nice touch...
Wait. What? As in James Earl Jones?

I've watched the whole series - I really enjoyed it. Yeh, it was a lot of durka durka, but there was a good amount of reality in it and some real suspense. I really was left guessing until towards the end as to Suleiman's intentions.

Looks similarish and has a deep voice but it was Ron Canada, not JEJ.

Yeh. He was good. Didn't like his religion choice though - it felt forced...

Classic British Jets: The Lightning

Great documentary just popped up on Prime.
That'll be something else to watch : thumbup:
There's also one on the Phantom and on the Fleet Air Arm worth watching if you're into that stuff - for the footage if nothing else.
Also on the list - really liked the Lightning one

Good timing, I watched the Lightning one yesterday and was going to post it up. Great to see a proper old school documentary using the people who did it whilst not being afraid to discuss technical details such as compressibility etc. Released in 2005. I didn't think people dressed like that in 2005?! biggrin

I know this is the Prime thread, but it's also on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w34PMS4QtM

Ooh. That's interesting. Amazon Prime is doing the worldwide distribution but offering it as part of a premium channel over Prime, aligned with the originator's brand.

Glad I nicked it now hehe
(Still recommended - maybe binge watch it on the 7-day trial?!)

Can anyone recommend any of the content? Worth an extra £4.99/mo?

No, you're thinking of Wendell Pierce, the second lead actor. The guys above are talking about one of the security staff in the briefing room.
