I've just finished 3 seasons of animal kingdom. Very good indeed, especially season 2 and 3. Some shocking unexpected moments. Better than power.
Enjoyed this a lot as well, season 4 shouldn’t be too far away but it will probably be awhile before it appears on prime.

Another indie gem that Amazon have acquired the rights to then hidden it in their terrible UI...

You Were Never Really Here
Thank you - excellent.
Have to say, epic sound.
Just watched 20 seconds of the trailer on you tube and looks really good, turned it off in case of spoilers.
Hopefully it’s available here in Austria! Last two movies I tried to watch on Netflix based on the thread on here weren’t there...
I watched this last night, I really didn't gel with it. I just couldn't get my head around the whys and the wherefores of it all...

I've not watched any of this yet, but it would appear you are referring to a problem that frequently crops up with fiction and that is failing to explain or show the motivation for the characters' actions. To do this requires effort, skill and talent on the part of the writer and many people writing for the screen, especially the small one, are missing one or more of these.

I'm watching S2 - 3rd episode just done..
I wish they'd just get rid of of the Mum and Dad storyline and concentrate more on the gigs and the relationship with her manager (who is the funniest character by far).

It looks fabulous, but Mrs Maisel does an awful lot of exasperated shouting in the scenes with her parents and ex husband which is just so irritating.
TBH I often feel that I'm not the right kind of audience for the show when I'm watching it. Not really sure who it's aimed at though.....
Second season done. I liked it, particularly the bit where they went away for the summer. I think they capture the era extremely well and the main protagonists are all likeable. Her Dad in particular makes me laugh with some of his reactions/mannerisms.

Looking forward to a 3rd season.
Contrary to some opinions, I thought season 2 was excellent and improved on an already very good season 1.

That was hard going, took me two sittings! A tad abstract for me and didn't really deliver, but well done, not something I would watch again.

Indie gem #2 of recent weeks:

Beast

Along with You Were Never Really Here, this appeared on loads of critics top 10 lists in 2018. As terrible as Amazon are at curating their content, they are continuously brilliant at buying up indie gems that the likes of Now TV (Sky) overlook.

Started watching The Fall - seen the first 3 or 4 episodes so far.

Gillian Anderson is impressive - don't think I've seen her in anything else (never watched the X Files), but think she is excellent in this. Her character comes across as very competent but not somebody you'd really like all that much.

It's not one of those things where one episode ends and I can't wait to start the next, but pretty enjoyable overall.

Day of the Triffids. New series, watchable enough retelling of a familiar story.

She is magnificent. Watch the BBC adaptation of Bleak House (a Charles Dickens novel), it's a great watch, although the book is better, but she plays her character of Lady Dedlock wonderfully.

The Fall is very good, but, in my opinion, the last series was rubbish. The 1st was very good though and thoroughly worth watching.

Just heard they are releasing all series of the original Baywatch TV show, not the Dwane Johnson film.

Not sure how it will have aged, will have to catch a couple of episodes for old time sakes.

In 4K? That might be worth a watch. Ahem.

I finished the second series at the weekend, and I must admit I've lost interest in it a bit. It's beginning to feel a bit dragged out - not convinced I'm going to bother with series 3.
A shame, because it started well.

Baywatch really was rubbish. Jasmine Bleeth really really wasn't.

1st series good, 2nd series boring and dragged out as you say, 3rd series was dire. Series 2 and 3 were also particularly unconvincing in terms of decisions/procedure etc.

They really over-egged a promising story. IMHO, they should have wrapped the whole thing in a couple of extra episodes at the end of series 1.

Completely agree - I hadn't realised that all 3 series were the same story. I was a bit surprised when I got to S2 and it was still the same - I didn't see how they could drag it out for another two series. (And it seems they couldn't, at least not enough to interest me).

The odd thing, though, was that the critical acclaim seemed to carry on or even increase.
