Picard was absolutely brilliant. Best Star Trek I've seen since the very best of TNG.
Agreed. I really enjoyed the world they portrayed, and the somewhat gentler (with age) Picard. It feels more like a detective series than the sometimes all-action Discovery. Story before SFX.
Inclined to agree. I watched it last night and thought it was good. I also like that they are doing it as a weekly release as it’s enjoyably irritating and old fashioned.

I never really liked the Picard star trecks and primarily watched them as a function of there only being a few channels back then and nothing better on but this seems stylish and much more grown up.

The big plus, for me, of a weekly episode series, is the time to discuss each episode on social media and forums, and also to read articles about it.

With a series that you can binge, you have to stay away from all sources of spoilers until you have watched the whole lot, which I think is a shame and misses something.

Absolutely. And most importantly it’s a kick in the nuts to the office bellend virgin who comes up from the basement to specifically announce he is some kind of superior human because he has watched more episodes, more quickly than everyone else and knows more than everyone else. biggrin

I just finished James May: Our Man in Japan and I enjoyed it so much that it almost feels like this year's Prime fee was worth it for this alone.

Funnily enough I actually said the same to hubby, that I liked it was an old fashioned way to watch it!
I just think all the work that goes into these series, how many months they take to film all to be watched in 3 days seems ashame sometimes!

You've just put into words my own thoughts. I binge watch whenever I can, but I do so feeling rather guilty - for two reasons. The first is because I ought to be doing something else with my life and the other for the reason you said.

Having Picard, Vikings, Watchmen, Discovery (if it comes back), Top Gear and all the others play out weekly lets me savour them, and gives me something to talk about with other fans at work, and I'm not left with the guilty feelings that I've wasted the series in a desire to rush to the end.

Doom Patrol. Anyone seen it/opinions?
Sort of a spin off from Titans, & with Alan Tudyk, Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer and April Bowlby,so shouldn't be too shabby. It's on Starz,so extra money, but bingeable in the weeks free trial,IF it's worth it.

be interested in hearing if this is any good. Mind you Pennyworth is on there too as is Mr Mercedes (something Mrs Iroc would like to watch) as well as a few others which sound promising. I'm just in the process of quitting Kindle Unlimited so I could get Starz and still make a little saving per month biggrin

Pennyworth is ok but the 'cockney' accent is fking annoying and can see why Americans think we all speak like that, otherwise its quite 'stylish' regarding clothing, set etc. but the good guy always wins and full of stereotypes

Id say it has the same feeling as Gotham. Worth a watch but wouldnt pay for it

+1

Somehow Modern Family still has some funny episodes in the current series....It seems to have been more consistent than some of its contemporaries....and I’m thinking of Big Bang Theory.

I was in pain last night watching the episode where grandpa brings home Barkley the butler dog from Vegas.

Discovered "The Sandbaggers".

It's old, made between 1978 and 1980 but I'm really enjoying it. An antidote to James Bond. They only made 3 series and I'm through the first two already. It stars the incomparable Roy Marsden and he's excellent as always.

Doom Patrol is awesome, much better than Titans in my opinion, season 2 has wrapped filming and is due out this year
