Bosch legacy is in
Mighty fine
20 minutes in… feels like they’ve nailed it with the new charactersMighty fine
Thankfully there aren't too many advert interruptions either. There are a few breaks for ads but it carries straight on without any apart from one 30 second Derren Brown monologue.

The Contractor
Completely predictable story with no twists or surprises but for a Saturday night brain-off film, it was OK.
Guy gets fired from the military. Has insufficient funds to keep his family. Joins mercenaries. Doesn't go according to plan... etc etc etc
5/10
Watched the first 10 minutes and decided it wasn’t going to be worth my time. Completely predictable story with no twists or surprises but for a Saturday night brain-off film, it was OK.

Then realised I hadn’t watched S6 or 7 of Bosch so caught the first four episodes. Always superb.

I know this goes against the grain in here, but the TV series is not anywhere close to being as good as the books. All the detail and subtle nuance has disappeared. It's like watching a 3 minute review of a 90 minute football match. All we're getting are the bare minimum highlights.
...and just to make myself more unpopular... the view from his house is horrendous! Smog and poor housing. I wouldn't trade his view for mine, ever.
I do however think Titus makes a very fine Bosch.
Read / listen to the books folks... they are miles better :0)

I just watched the last two eps of Outer Range and even though it answers some questions, it just didn't work for me. In fact it feels a little like the Emperor's New Clothes - it screams "I'm clever and mysterious" but in fact it's just slow and the writers really haven't a clue how it's going to play-out.
Am on episode five and we are both stuggling with it as it seems they are making it up as they go along. Was hoping it would get better.

As Basil Fawlty might say, what do you expect to see out of a [Los Angeles] bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically…GetCarter said:

Having seen your house build thread all those years ago, I don't think many places could improve on your view.xeny said:
Has anyone else watched "Manifest Destiny Down: Spacetime" ?
MDB describes it as an absurdist satire, but I've not got enough experience of them to judge if it is a good or bad one. It is certainly very strange.
I'm glad you asked this because I couldn't find enough information on it to know whether to give is a look or not. MDB describes it as an absurdist satire, but I've not got enough experience of them to judge if it is a good or bad one. It is certainly very strange.
Funny though... I'd rather spend 20 mins on the internet researching opinions on a film than actually watching one that I suspect might be utterly awful.

Didn't know there was a new season of Goliath, similar program
I really liked Goliath, despite being very critical of half of series 2 and all of series 3. Now, with hindsight, the bits I criticised are my favourite episodes. Dark, ridiculous, but they really pave the way for series 4Mars said:

I’d agree with this - not sure what it wants to be, but short and well paced so makes the most of the limited storyCompletely predictable story with no twists or surprises but for a Saturday night brain-off film, it was OK.

Wolf and 10th ( these are streets in Philadelphia )
A gulf war marine vet returns home to a mafia neighbourhood and is approached by the Feds with a proposition to rat on his pals and family.
Great action, guns, knives, wire taps, rats and traitors, italian suits, high body count and with Brian Dennehy, Dennis Hopper and Val Kilmer in supporting roles. Whats not to like. Blood thicker than Water as they say. Good twist to conclude.
8/10 for the real good guys.
Really enjoyed it while patiently waiting till next week for the continuing episodes of Bosch Legacy to hit the screen.
