I believe he said they couldn't find a house in East Belfast for £250k they liked.

He wouldn't have got a barn sized house but the houses in the nice areas are cheap compared to the rest of the UK.
I've no idea of the area but had a quick look on Rightmove - not much listed, maybe Rightmove isn't popular there - but £249K gets a nice looking 4 bed detached with a RangeRover on the drive.
Bonkers what you can get in Belfast for £300k if you can tolerate the 17th century stalemate politics and the annual resident protests and parade nonsense

Just watched it. Really like the house and the location.

It's funny, but I also tend to also enjoy the builds more when I like the people building it.

Good shout smile

We seem to have Kevin making something twice.

Can I put forward 'in for Christmas' usually followed by 'Kevin turns to camera and raises eyebrows'

Staircase needs changing to 'windows don't fit', it's always the windows. That aside well done hehe

I always wonder what these timber clad places will look like in 20 years, the planks on this one were already stained darker at the bottom.
Wood is not a good material for external cladding, not unless you like painting or replacing it every 10 - 20 yrs or so.

I agree with this. I think it is because if I like the people doing the build, then it kind of suggests that they are "people like me" and this is always a programme that gives me so much hope for eventually being able to build my own house. If people I like can do it, then surely so can I?!

Only just caught up with this, fantastic build. Possibly one of my all time favourites... and 80k for that plot!

Really liked this one!!!!

Didn't show the finished sizes of the bedrooms though, and as stated seemed a touch narrow?

Loved the kitchen tiles and the re-used stairs, polished floor...

Really really good design language.

Really liked that one.

Ideally it would be wider and didn't like the use of wood tiling in kitchen and wood in bathroom.

Aside from that really good though and liked the stone clad ground floor (which then continued inside) and then the timber first floor, really fitted the setting.

"Kevin McCloud meets Chris and Kayo, who plan to build a unique, Roman-inspired home on the protected land surrounding one of Britain's most historic abbeys in Hertfordshire. The pair find themselves constrained by stringent planning conditions, and the intricate and complicated build puts both their schedule and budget under a great deal of pressure"

Complex but I like the sound of it so far; minus the putting green.

Why isn't the putting green on the roof? He could have an amazing crazy golf course up there.

One or two... Has immense potential though to be a great, one of the rare 'grand' designs on this show recently.

Strange one this. The architect building HIS dream home. The client just funding his folly.

You can't quite get a putting green smoothness to a sedum roof wink

This is mental In a possibly fantastic way. I love single story properties so am hopeful, although all that wood internally could be a disaster.

4 so far this week; we've yet to get to the windows hehe Shame there isn't a tile for "architect with wild ear-hair".
