I thoroughly enjoyed it too but as you say, pretty slow in places. I did chuckle every time they used the word obergruppenführer, even though its associated with the worst of the worst in the SS the word itself just cracks me up The idea of an alternate history is, I think, intriguing, but it seemed a very slow moving plot for 10 episodes (probably warranted about half that) and the ending was, well...

I finished the show and haven't read any of the book series so will just give my opinion in spoiler quotes for those who haven't seen to avoid...
Ending seemed to make no sense, although I understand it does for the next series in another universe. I kind of wish they would just stick with the current series' universe though.
Overall I quite liked the show and pace. I really liked the twist when John Smith's son was diagnosed as disabled, and then his wife saying at least the disabled don't have to suffer now without knowing her son is going to be executed under current rules.
I found none of the lead characters charismatic enough to cheer for though, Frank Fink was in particularly not likeable. Not finding out anything at all about 'The man in the high castle's' identity was a bit of a let down, also the lack of people who actually watched the videos yet were more than happy to lose family members over them. 'The Resistance' members in general seemed to completely lack decent planning.
The last video with Joe Blake killing Frank was a nice twist, but I would have liked it explained really, it made no sense at the time, and I can only put it down to the Japanese guy's imagination.
I liked the who setting, Nazi's wanting to take over, and the Japanese fighting for continued peace put a lot of tension in the air, I really liked the Chief Inspector of the Japanese in the end, his strong believe in country, sacrifice and leading was admirable.
I liked the twist with saving Hitler. I also liked how he wasn't shown as just a weak old man at the end like he was portrayed during the series, but someone still quite sure of himself.

Up to episode 5 so far. Really enjoying it and quite impressed with the axis/america blended feel going on. Loving Rufus Sewell; he plays the best bad guys.
Some quite nice throw backs to history as well (Japan not yet a technological powerhouse, Concorde etc), I'm hoping it delves a bit into how the Axis actually won the war and how other countries are doing.

Dick didn't actually write a sequel so it will be interesting to see how the next series progresses. One possibility is it might be based on another manuscript by Dick that was suggested might be a sequel to TMITHC. In this story the Germans build a time machine to take them to the alternate reality where the allies won the war. The allies possess nuclear weapons, whereas the Germans, in their reality, don't. The Germans report back and are told to bring some of these weapons back through to their reality. Might be interesting... .

Just finished watching this last night. Think it might be one of those that needs rewatching to pick up on things I might have missed like why John Smith wanted to hide the fact his son was disabled. I did forget the Nazis persecuted disabled people as well as Jews.
I was also disappointed in the truth behind the films and the lack of explanation behind the film featuring that Joe lad executing Frink
