Excellent! Like all good sci-fi stories, I don't mind one jot that some of the acting is as convincing as a terrorist hostage video (like previous incarnations of Star Trek..), I still find it compelling viewing, and want to know where it goes next.

Just watched the first two eps of the new series and I'm liking it ... it keeps building and the various story thread of the characters are starting to come together.
Not too sure about Holden and Naomi though - the actors who play them are too clean-cut somehow to convince me that they are 'on the run' rebels. Holden in particular just isn't convincing as a leader. Doesn't seem to be any genuine chemistry between them either.
Other than that though, excellent.

Harder to portray on the screen, but he really doesn't want to be one - he is written as very downbeat and a bit reluctant / sulky about it right thru the books.I hope the series continues, I've only made it to part way through book 3, and it is an absolutely fantastic read!

Their portrayal is pretty close to the book (not books - 3 series and they still haven't completed the first book), and you're right - he isn't a natural leader, doesn't want to be a leader, and is in this position as he wanted to do "the right thing".

Up to book 6 finished - just waiting for 7 to drop in price a bit on Kindle. Definitely getting it then.I hope the series continues, I've only made it to part way through book 3, and it is an absolutely fantastic read!

The first two books were epic; I was going through a house move whilst reading book 3, should probably start it again. Are the subsequent books of similar quality?
I think so. Consistent in terms of style, character behaviour, etc, so if you like the early ones, you should be ok. Can't tell you if you'll like the stories / situations they're in, but they don't seem repetitive or derivative of the early books to me, so.........
Aaaaaand it's gone

I hate it when shows are just cut off, mid story, like this. I think it is incredibly shabby treatment of the fans who have invested their time in a series - without wrapping it up properly it is like the broadcaster has broken a contract in my view.
They did it with the excellent Dark Matter, and rEvolution (which I was also grealty enjoying).
I am very surprised at Brooklyn Nine Nine also - fantastic comedy series.

Though I can't say I'm that surprised. As much as it has been critically acclaimed, and is loved by the fans, I don't think the viewing numbers have been great - and given how much it must cost to make with the SFX, it was always a threat.
That doesn't make it any less disappointing though. Fingers crossed someone like Amazon Prime or Netflix pick it up. God knows there's little enough "proper" hard sci fi on TV these days.
