Anybody else been watching "Walking the Himalayas". Part 2 or 5 was last night, really surprised there was no topic on it.

Been great viewing so far.

I only caught some of it. I watched his programme a year or two ago about walking the Nile, which was quite a feat.

He nearly died making this series after his taxi driver took a diversion over a cliff. The driver was smashed up and Levison broke his arm. He had to be flown back to the UK to have it pinned. But being a double hard bd, he went back 4-5 weeks later and finished the walk.

Been watching this - didn't know much about him but looks like he's the real deal. Ex 3 Para and done a few tours. Really interesting stuff.

I will have to watch Walking the Nile, does anyone have a good source? Still available on iPlayer, or is it a DVD/Party with the pirates type of thing?

Yes watching this, I caught the Nile one completely by accident on 4OD last year.

Would love to do something similar myself.

Yep, great series so far. Thanks above for ruining next week's shocker!

Also thought it was good for the regular british viewing public to see what a normal Afghani bloke is like in Malang. Just a lovely man interested and scared of all the same kind of stuff as us.

As for the miserable Kashmiris, he did well to not fill in that big unit on the bridge who interrupted wink

Walking the Nile was great viewing and this promises much of the same even though the shocker has been spoiled. Ta.

His accident is in the papers, so it's hardly a secret.

A big accident was also alluded to at the end of the first episode; he was shown looking pretty poorly in hospital and there was a shot of a wrecked car.

That is called a "teaser"
When you say exactly what happens it's called a "spoiler"
Hope that's cleared it up for you both smile

I read about it in the Radio Times. Makes we want to watch it even more.

Much prefer his style of endurance to that of Bear Grylls. I know who I'd rather have a beer with.

Bear Grylls is far too polished, "Walking the....." is raw and you actually feel as though you are there.

Plenty of room for him and Grylls. I hope he keeps churning out the content after this, must be plenty more interesting places left to walk.

Just caught up with episode 1 last night and will watch episode 2 tonight.

Before watching this, me and Mrs Chimp downloaded Walk The Nile and watched all 4 episodes of that first.

Talk about some shocking things to endure!

This guy, Levison Wood makes Bear Grylls look quite tame - he looks like some public schoolboy but is apparently tough as nails, ex-paratrooper and has done and seen some amazing things in his life so far.

I find him very watchable and I love some of the scenery of some of the places he has visited during these 2 series - beautiful places, unfortunately a lot of them are in areas of conflict/civil war which makes them kinda unaccessible for most just now.

I would highly recommend watching Walk The Nile and then follow it up with the Himalayas.

I watched Walking the Nile when it was on and thought it was brilliant, although I think you have to be a bit nuts to take it on. This is even more insane, but it's a brilliant look at the area. If they come up on Netflix/Amazon at some point, I'm sure I'll watch them again, the 'event' in the first/second episode of Walking the Nile (don't want to spoil it for someone who decides to watch it) was not something you expect on a TV show.

Oh god yes; if it is what I think you are suggesting, it was shocking and upsetting.

Yeah it really was. Great trek and it took him 9 months to do it.

I like Ed Stafford's stuff too, which is of a similar vein. He walked the Amazon in his own epic voyage.
