Nearly at the end of series 6, I’ve really enjoyed all of them, not to much saving the world or 100s of killings.
I’ve also loved how his daughter Maddie has grown through the series and their relationship.
It's a great series, I really enjoyed them and appreciated how they've moved the books forward enough in history to keep them relevant (Gulf War rather than Vietnam etc) but kept very close to the storylines, despite some crossover between novels. I think it was season 5 where they really started to bring Maddie's character to the fore. She's come a long way since playing Sophia in S1 & 2 of The Walking Dead!I’ve also loved how his daughter Maddie has grown through the series and their relationship.

Definitely worth reading if you like the TV series. I'm about 3/4 through them and the plots (and some characters) are different enough that having seen the TV version isn't a spoiler.
It's also interesting checking out the various book locations on Streetview.
I am not a big reader, but the Michael Connolly books take a lot of beating, for me. I would recommend reading the books first. My mate loves LA, whereas, i just found it very seedy and that comes across well in both the books and the TV series. I like to lookup the locations on Google maps. It's also interesting checking out the various book locations on Streetview.
The books make a much better job of defining his darker character, clearly troubled by his mother’s death, Vietnam tunnels leading to difficulty in form lasting relationships with anyone. The TV sort of just defines him as a good cop struggling against bureaucracy.
Blood work with Terry McCaleb made a good TV movie as did the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.

I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but I always thought Southland was a great cop series. Lots of flawed characters, rather than just "cops good, robbers bad". It's a shame they only made four or five series (I think, something like that). It's also based in LA.
Slightly different, but also worth a watch is Cardinal, a detective series based in small town Ontario (IIRC, it was filmed in and around Sudbury, north west of Toronto). The town/department are both fictional, but loosely based on the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police, who cover the bits between the big cities and towns with their own departments).

Must admit I preferred the Rockford Files to Harry O
Oh absolutely so did I...Jim Rockford with his iconic gold Pontiac Firebird. Both series began in the same year but the Rockford Files enjoyed more success and lasted longer.
Its rare to even hear Harry O mentioned these days, which is what surprised me.

I have really enjoyed Series 1 - 4, but Series 5 does not seem like a development of a Michael Connolly plot or any book that I have read.
Does anyone know if its just a made-up storyline for Amazon? And, how about Series 6? Do i need to just quit while i am ahead?
Does it matter if the storyline is made up or not ?Does anyone know if its just a made-up storyline for Amazon? And, how about Series 6? Do i need to just quit while i am ahead?
Enjoy it for what it is.
Series 7 is expected to be aired this year .

I eagerly await
Same here, I binge watched in Lockdown 1.''She's come a long way since playing Sophia in S1 & 2 of The Walking Dead!'' Well well, I didn't recognise her or know her acting history,
but now you've mentioned it, how didn't I recognise her. Proper grown up actress now.
Come on series 7.
New Bosch series to start on a spin-off Amazon channel (IMDB TV), will be covering the later books.

Just Bosch, his daughter and Honey ‘Money’ Chandler (Mimi Driver) announced.
Not sure why it’s a different show, and not Season 8 and onwards of Bosch. Michael Connolly will still be involved, he’ll be busy with this and the Micky Haller show starting this year also. No crossovers sadly as Bosch on Amazon and Haller on Netflix (strangely).
