A retelling leading to a Godzilla vs King Kong film in a few years.

Trailer looks pretty interesting, great cast as well.

Willing to give this a shot, loved Godzilla so looking forward to seeing how they link up.

The size discrepancy, I doubt they resolve it.
It sounds like a recipe for cack...it sounds like it but I hope it isn't. The AVP films were mediocre at best.
I do like the fact that new Kong film is in the 70's though.

I read on Den of Geek that this King Kong is going to be much bigger than a few previous versions which will make up a bit of size discrepancy.

He looks bigger. But it would be far better to reduce Godzilla.
Kong isn't new to size manipulation, in the 1933 original they had to scale him up to see him on the building, then they scaled him back down for different shots.
There is evidence of an ape that was one third the size of Kong.

It actually might work for this one.

Jackson's version was far too slow and went in for CGI overload on the island (dino stampede for example)

I love the third Kong version, it was extremely good for me.
This new one looks like effects over story, like a lot of modern features.

I'd posted in the films i watched this week thread as i didn't know this was here but basically.. it's a big budget B movie, 70s soundtrack is great, you can see what's happening in the monster fights, unlike a Michael Bay Transformers fight. I've seen it mentioned a few times, but it's like a Doug McLure monster film with bits of a Vietnam film in it. I haven't seen the Peter Jackson film, but it's much much better than the 1976 Jeff Bridges film that was on TV lastnight.

I was not impressed. Story line was crap. Effects were quite good.

I'm very surprised at the 12A rating. I would not want to take a child much younger than a 12 year old to see it.
