Hi
I've just started downloading a few Podcasts to supplement the radio on longer journeys.

Has anyone found any particularly good ones to subscribe to as so far I seem to be limited to the BBC?

Tracks is looking fairly good although I would have strangled the lead if I was her husband.

Dammit, I was just going to post that. A great podcast, and I'm not that much of a movie buff!

Presume you mean with Kermode and Mayo?
Funnily enough I had lust subscribed to their series but have now retrieved that one.

I'm enjoying Science Vs podcast, fairly new so not many episodes yet.

JRE podcast is good (Guest dependent)

The Parapod, 2 seasons first ghosts and second mysteries gets better over the episodes

I'd say these are must-listens:
RHLSTP - Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast. Funny interviews with famous people.
The Infinite Monkey Cage - science and comedy show
No Such Thing as a Fish - fact based comedy presented by the QI researchers but stands up in its own right
The Adam Buxton podcast - Buxton interviewing people but with his own style so lots of jingles and frivolity
Distraction Pieces - Another interview one with Scroobius Pip, who I find a thoroughly engaging bloke
Gareth Jones on Speed - geeky car based banter
Midweek Motorsport - pretty obvious smile

Also...

Worst Idea of All Time - Two Kiwi comedians watch and review Sex and The City 2 every week for a year. I'm up to episode 5 of the second season (first season they watched Grown Ups 2) and they're already despairing. biggrin
How Did This Get Made - reviews of bad films. Rather funny.
Yeah It's That Bad - A bit snide but entertaining revisits to films that have a poor critical rating
Dr Karl on Triple J - Australian radio show in which listeners send in science questions
Skeptoid - debunking of myths and urban legends (maybe start with the Mother Theresa one as it's fascinating and topical)
The Life Scientific - interviews with scientists if you're interested in that
The Nerdist - casual chat-style interviews with famous people. It's often American actors I've not heard of but the ones you recognise are worth a listen.
Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown - panel show that is a bit hit and miss but usually worth listen. If you don't like puns, I wouldn't bother though smile

As well as Kermode & Mayo, I like:

The Spectator Podcast
Radio Free Delingpole (James Delingpole and Toby Young)
Fictional Frontiers with Sohaib (only when film critic James Berardinelli is his guest)
Gareth Jones on Speed (with Sniff Petrol)
Waking Up - Sam Harris

If you (or anyone) likes a bit of football chat, I can recommend 'The Football Ramble'. Way better than all the usual 606 type shows IMO - and very, very funny.

Did you hear this week's? First time I've ever heard Herring censor himself, and that's saying something. Would *love* to have been there to hear what was said. The bleeps were rather long...

I like LBC's James O'Brien "mystery hour" which is always very funny plus his "best of" which is thought provoking.
Best podcast for laughs though is The Two Mikes.

I'm behind so I didn't, but I saw him talking about it on Twitter.

Must have been bad considering some of the stuff he puts out biggrin

Also, I'd recommend This American Life, Data Sceptic (if you want to understand stats), the Adam Buxton Podcast, 99% Invisible, Answer Me This and No Such Thing as a Fish.

It seemed to involve a member of the Royal Family (and not the usual suspect...), so I'd just to love to know. Speculating on here, in public, will likely bring this thread down, so best not...

And, yes, I love how filthy Herring gets. It's not one to listen to in the car, with the roof down, stationary at traffic lights. (Not that I would have done that once.)

Kermode and Mayo
Fatman on Batman
Hollywood Babble-On
Motorsport Magazine

That lot keep me busy. Always avoided Fatman on Batman as I don't really do Batman (or comics), but I delved in once and it's brilliant, super geeky if you like comic book movies or TV shows.

Hollywood Babble-On is an acquired taste, but probably one of the most profitable podcasts out there (they sell out a 500 seat theatre every week). It's very crude but very funny and covers everything from celebrity deaths, to geek news and the size of Liam Neeson's 'piece'.

As above, RHLSTP (RHLSTP!), Adam Buxton, and K&M.
Also Book Shambles, the Infinite Monkey Cage, occasionally the Radio Le Mans podcasts, and I'm working my way through the back catalogue of The Word podcasts. I can never keep up with Richard Herring's daily podcast, even if it is only a few minutes long.

I really miss Phill and Phil's Perfect 10 - think you have to pay for the collected old episodes now.

Just thought this was worth sharing for any fans of the RHLSTP (rhlstp) podcast - they're crowdfunding to record and film the next series and need a little bit more to reach their goal.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/467836598/rhl...

I've chucked in £15 which seems the least I can do for all the hours of entertainment I've had from them. All the money goes into the next show.

I think crowdfunding is a great way to deal with this, when they don't have the backing of TV or media networks. It means they get to make it and we get to enjoy it. smile
