Discussion
the joe rogan experience
he's a stand up comedian/ ufc commentator that chats to ufc fighters, comedians, musicians, scientist/ theorists/doctors, motoring enthusiasts, lawyers, police officers....... basically anything that interests him or he thinks could be an interesting discussion, a lot of podcasts go to 3hours.
some are very informative, really interesting, others are hilarious (he smokes a lot of weed during some podcasts with his mates). some good ones off the top of my head:
- any joey 'coco' diaz ones- joey has a very chequered past and smokes a lot of weed and has an awesome laugh
- Louis theroux
- chris harris (cars)
- mike Schmidt (ex lawyer)
- lance Armstrong (talks about his drugs cheating)
- mike baker (ex cia)
- steve-o (jackass)
- jeff novitzky (doctor who helped lots of athletes cheat with drugs)
- alex winter (bill S preston of bill & ted fame, now dark web documentary maker)
- brian cox (science)
- magnus walker & alex ross (cars/ Porsche/ gumball)

The History Hit podcast with Dan Snow. It's normally a half hour chat with historians (who have a book out) and is usually pretty informative. He also picks up major anniversarys and goes into far more depth, such as the Somme and the first tank use. Both were very moving. http://www.historyhitpodcast.com/
Ted Talks is also worth subscribing to if you like your podcast to make you think http://blog.ted.com/audio_podcasts/
Still untitled by Adam Savage is another of my go to podcasts -he's one of the Mythbusters and this seems to be his next project. It can be a bit "social media trend leader" but if you like Mythbusters you'll like this. http://www.tested.com/still-untitled-the-adam-sava...
It's also worth investigating what you can stream or download in the BBC Radio Player app, there's far more there than they push out as podcasts you can subscribe to.

- Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (RHLSTP!!)
- Adam Buxton's podcast
- Reply All (various stories about the Internet)
- Start-up (looking at various small businesses)
- The Smoking Tire (American motoring podcast, very funny and featuring a lot of well known people including at times Richard Porter, Chris Harris etc)
- Talking Tesla (about Tesla cars, EVs in general)

Love Hollywood babble-on and Edumacation also with Kev Smith.
While not a podcast if you're looking for something different on your way to work try AM640 or Dark matter network on tune-in app for some "interesting" views on conspiracies and such. Some mornings are instantly forgettable bit others are well worth a listen.

Think most of my 'go to' podcasts have been listed, I'm having to get a bit picky on what ones I download now as even with a long (1 hour) commute there's too many to listen to each week! Especially that Joe Regan one clocking in at 3 hours.
Few more from my list -
Answer me this - a couple answering listeners questions
Desert Island Discs
Most Notorious - interviews with crime writers about specific crimes
Myths and Legends - the original stories from folk tales, myths, and uhh, legends
No dumb questions - haven't actually listened to this one yet but it's Destin from the Smarter Every Day Youtube channel so probably good...
Soundtracking with Edith Bowman - talking about the music from films
The Art of Manliness - don't laugh, they have some interesting discussions and interviews!
The History of Rome - about 300 30 minute episodes charting the history of the Roman empire

Several of my favorites already mentioned (Monkey Cage/TLS)
Some other good sciency ones:
Some other good sciency ones:
- Little Atoms, it's a radio show that interviews an author of factual books every week, mostly popular science sometimes history.
- More or Less - Looking at the statistics behind news stories
Missed Apex (F1)
Casefile (true crime but my god is it good!)
Criminal (I could listen to Phoebe Judge all night long-bliss)
Someone Knows Something (true crime episode by episode)
Body On The Moor (you might know the story but it's a very good listen vi R4)
then the usual Adam Buxton (search Adam and Joe if you never hard the radio show as there is hours of fun to be had), Serial, As Yet Untitled etc etc

Some more to add to my list above:
Song Exploder - they take a song and deconstruct it, interviewing the writer to find out how it came together. There aren't many of them from the kind of music I'm into but if you're interested in music it's really interesting.
Revisionist History - About overlooked events from history. I just listened to one about Winston Churchill's best mate Frederick Lindemann which was superb.
Politically Reactive - two comedians chat about US politics but it's the guests that make it. Considering the state of US politics these days, they have some truly incredible people on who are fighting against the rise of racism and white supremacist groups.
You are not so smart - It's about the science of how the mind works, particularly on cognitive biases and how your opinions are formed. Really interesting, and actually quite useful in the information age.

Thanks much appreciatedIf you like that you'll probably enjoy The Skeptics Guide to the Universe
If you can handle something very dry with a strong Libertarian bent then try Russ Robert's EconTalk
One of the Tim Harford episodes would be an easy introduction, but perhaps the most amazing was the episode with British Nobel Laureate Ronald Coase who was 102 when the hour long interview was recorded.
Spectator - News and current affairs with a conservative libertarian bias
War College (was Reuters but now independent) - US based War is Boring info, everything from American Civil War engineering to latest on tt.
CSIS (Centre for Strategic and International Studies) - Very short weekly news catchup
The British History podcast - From the last ice age to... not finished yet
Into the Wilderness - Pace Brothers UK hunting and general countryside matters
Beyond the Kill - Canadian/North American mountain hunting, mostly long-duration sheep hunts
Mostly Weather - UK Met office weather discussions (not forecasts)
Super Critical Podcast - Analysis of nuclear weapon references in pop culture/movies.
Also some other flying ones, Direct to, Inspired Pilot, Flaps, all now no longer producing episodes but still interesting old content.

Try David Bramwell's The Odditorium.
Lots of short, bizarre and humerous presentations which each would make an interesting topic on PH.,
Big Willies, Chumbawumba, Ivor Cutler, Nazis in Space, and my faves are no.25 about the Stasi and life behind the Berlin Wall and no.20 about The Baroness and the Urinal
First heard DB at the Wilderness Festival talks.
Enjoy.
