Doesn't exactly fit the brief but i really like; Rhod Gilbert's best bits.
Only 1/2 hour a week - some episodes are better than others but generally pretty solid.

I've just started listening to "We need to talk about..." on Spotify. It's a bit leftie, but quite interesting all the same.

Yes Worrying!!

I forgot about Adam Buxton, I used to listen to Adam and Joe.

You just need to join the Church
Absolutely; Adam Buxton is the UK's leading podcaster imo - there isn't a single episode of his podcast that I haven't enjoyed. His recent one with the Syrian refugee was very eye-opening. Kermode and Mayo's Wittertainment is also essential if you're into film.

I'd also suggest Marc Moran's WTF as there is a huge back catalogue, but he is a marmite kinda guy. Do you like the West Wing? if so The West Wing Weekly is an episode-by-episode deep dive with uber-fan Hrishi and Josh Molina who played Will Bailey; it is absurdly good. They are already in the second half of S4 and it's now got a huge following, including all TWW alumni inc. Aaron Sorkin. I'd also recommend Song Exploder which is Hrishi's other podcast; every episode a musician deconstructs one of their songs and explains everything that went into it.

I would strongly recommend 99% invisible, excellent podcast and one I look forward to every week.

Radiotopia do a number of great podcasts. Along with 99 pi above, I also listen to Radiolab and Ear Hustle. Ear Hustle in particular is good as it is presented by inmates at SAN Quentin prison in the US and tells the true stories of life in prison.

Hope that means it's totally different to their film review programme on Radio 5 Live which is the audio equivalent of watching paint dry, only less amusing.

Dr Karl on ABC Australia (weekly science radio phone-in)
Dr Karl is on Radio 5 with Rhod or Dottun, Zan is a great host too on Triple J with Karl.

Space History Podcast by Michael Annis, I am a tight sod but am a Patreon donor. It is incredibly brilliant, he has just done Apollo 11 in about 10 podcasts, just starting on Apollo 12.

Masters Of None

Part of the Simply Syndicated podcast network, which has many other great podcasts.

This is most definitely NSFW and has an American bent to it but the first 'Worst Christmas Songs' is just classic and introduced me to Straight No Chaser!!

"They Walk among Us" is a fantastic UK based True Crime podcast.

Some utterly fascinating stuff covered.

what! Russell Brand? The obnoxious tt one or the fat astrologer one? No wait, that's Russell Grant, who is also a tt.

I suspect you may have a different definition of genius to the one in my book.

No offence intended.
