I liked Stephen Fry on it and admire his wide knowledge but I haven't really missed his presence on it. Sandi is very good at her job and it shows on QI. Very relieved to still be enjoying it.

I'm sure you'll cry "typo!" but you haven't made yourself look clever enough to be criticising even a pseudo intellectual TV programme.
Oh, "buy" and not "by".

Thanks for pointing that out.

Watching one on Dave last night with Sandi Toksvig as a guest and she was clearly quite clued up on stuff, and I've been enjoying the new series too. I wonder if they'll get Stephen Fry on as a guest at some point?

anyone else remember the show she was on "number 73"? kids saturday morning show Neil Buchanan, they had a quiz part where they made huge sandwiches, slice of bread for each correct answer

edit: I thought it was short lived, but I've just found it on Wikipedia, it went on for 6 years

Hopefully for the Xmas special? Would love to see him get caught out by a "klaxon" (in inverted commas because it's not actually called a klaxon)

Oh blimey, yes I remember!! I'd completely forgotten she was on it (Knew Neil Buchanan was). It was a red door, I think!, on ITV though I was more a BBC viewer so didn't watch it all the time smile

My Mrs (then girlfriend) reminded me that I'd said "She'll go far" at the time. Very bright, and quick witted.

I got slightly bored with QI and Stephen Fry. But Sandi Toksvig has made it watchable again and quite funny. Although Frankie Boyle was just on the one I watched and he looked rather disinterested.

For a start I was surprised he was on; I grew to loath the Dave-repeats of Mock the Week with him trying to get more and more outrageous.

He did seem very passive, as though on 'best behaviour'. But then came up with a couple of genuinely quite interesting snippets.

very odd!

I briefly followed him on Twitter a few years ago, and his posts consisted of a fair amount of quite serious and earnest stuff.

I think he's following the Eddie Izzard path. A few years of superb performances followed by becoming more and more political.

Must admit I do not like him, but that was from his attempts at being shocking in his comedy.

However maybe there is another comedian trying to break out.

Think he likes pies as well.

I have to say Sandi Toksvig is excellent.

I grew a little bored of Fry ("Carry on Camping" innuendo is only funny so many times in 30 minutes), but wasn't sure Toksvig was the right replacement, but watching it this week, it's clear there's plenty of chemistry between her and Davies and she's witty in ways that Fry had ceased to be.

Definitely a change for the better, imo.

Caught up at last. Sandi Toksvig is brilliant at the role and fits it perfectly and dare I say this I actually prefer her style to Stephen Fry's.

Maybe this is what QI needed an injection of someone new?

Having watched the current series, it's lost the plot I reckon.

It used to be 'Here's a clever/trick/sneaky question' and then the panel made an effort to answer it. Then repeat, so there were loads of questions, and teh panel kept to the subject in hand.

But now, Sandi Moosevig just asks a pretty lame general question, and the panel then each spend as much time as they can shouting and attempting to make witty comments that have little, if anything, to do with the original question.

It seems to have given up on the clever/trick/smart question part and become a place where comedians (often of dubious ability) can attempt to further their own careers.
