I wondered that! She was disappointing tbh, usually the panellists will have something of intelligence to offer. Sandi's reactions to her did make me laugh though smile

Maybe just not comfortable, isn't it the first time she's been on?

I read it as a bit like the way first timers sometimes struggle on Have I got News For You. They can be a bit overwhelmed by the banter, and certainly Toksvig lets the banter flow more freely than Fry did, who was always too quick to assert his superiority imo. Much cleverer than yow!

On the other hand it could be that regulars recognise somebody struggling and fill the void.

For me, Rhod made this weeks show with the Norway/Denmark mix up.
The woman was way out of her depth, and I think she knew it, but good on her for having a go at joining in

I have just twigged why I knew her name more than her face, she is married to Jon Richardson. Not sure when this was filmed but she had a baby in September, so she can blame baby brain smile

That did seem...odd.
Weak episode. But at least when they have a soft one they can sometimes bounce off them.

Sandi is quite good, but Fry kinda made the show his own. His ability to have a great anecdote for every area was what set him above others. Example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbEenHXmmy4

Do they still need a token female with Sandi in the chair? I'm sure HIGNFY has had two male guests with Ian and Paul when the chair has been a woman.

That was a diktat from the head of entertainment who left a while back.

I do recall a QI not so long ago that didn't have a woman on the panel. It wasn't great, there are plenty wk male comedians as well.

I just watched QI XL (Episode 6) and I have to say that was the funniest one for a very long time.

I think that Sandi is a funnier host, but Fry's encyclopaedic knowledge made the show much more 'Interesting'.

I was worried that QI relied more on Fry than, it seems, it really does. Sandi Toksvig is excellent and, crucially, she's not trying to be Stephen, she's doing her own thing, and it's working beautifully.

I agree. She's doing a sterling job and I'm really enjoying the 'N' series.

There's something about him that I don't like. I don't know what it is, but his whole act seems to be bitter, axe-grinding, agenda-based, chip-on-the-shoulder. It's very seldom that anything he says seems to be based on genuine comedy, but on points-scoring.
Maybe I'm being harsh, but that's the feeling I get.

But it's past its sell buy date I feel.

I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make. But I'm not putting myself forward for the host of QI.

I thought that with Fry gone, the show would suffer. I was wrong. Toksvig is easily as good and as others have said, she allows the guests more space to riff.

Also, FWIW, I thought Lucy Beaumont was good. Her quirky humour was fun.

and this.

As someone else said, after a few minutes I didn't really notice the difference which amazed even me.

I agree. I admit that I was initially sceptical but Ms. Toksvig has totally nailed it. In fact, dare I say this, I think she is better than Mr. Fry was.

I'm sure you'll cry "typo!" but you haven't made yourself look clever enough to be criticising even a pseudo intellectual TV programme.
