I recently cancelled sky and played the game. No calls, but after almost 3 weeks saw a 50% offer on the website when I logged in. I online chatted to someone and they upped the offer to 60%. I probably could have got more off, but was happy enough as it bought the entertainment and box sets bundle to £15 where I was paying £44 for the legacy pack with F1. I did loose the F1 channel but the saving has softened that blow.

I may well cancel after 12 months for real as I barely watch TV any more.

Just cancelled. Best they would offer is 40%, and I tried Bagga but he has nothing available.

Anyone know of anything out there?

Get on the live chat with them. I got 60% off for 12 months and a £25 credit without trying too hard just today.

As it's now a couple of hours since you cancelled, odds are that there'll be the 50% offer waiting for you on your Sky account - Check it Online or on your account on the Sky box

I'll be trying this soon, as the 60% hasn't yet appeared on my profile, still on the 50%, although it's only about a week since I gave notice

Have been paying £56 a month for sky tv, with movies, home phone and broadband, which this month went up to £70 a month due to the deal ending.
Phoned Sky and after a quick chat, it went back down to £56 a month again for the next 18months but I'm interested in whether that is a good deal or not? It didn't take much convincing for them to offer that, I'm sure that there is probably a better deal out there, but not sure how to proceed?
I've got 30 days cooling off period and if there is something better out there, I have time to change my mind.
Any thoughts?
I would take that offer.

I have the same package except no movies and pay £33 less than your discounted rate. If the movies package is value to you at that price then fair enough, doesn't sound great to me though. Unless you have fibre or other extras you didn't mention.

I finally got around to making the call to cancel.

The best the woman I got put through to would offer was 40% off. I'm on a pretty limited package - Box Sets, at £38/month - so I guess I'm not necessarily a "big fish" in their eyes.

I did make a point of saying to her that part of the reason I was cancelling was that I was fed up of the discounts that new subscribers getting trickling down to long term subscribers like me. I know very well why that is, of course. She wouldn't be drawn on that and just said that the maximum the system allowed her to offer was 40%.

So, I told her to cancel and I'll see what the system throws up in a couple of weeks by way of offer.....

Did the deed at 50% off, basically £1/month more than before, so quite happy with that. Won't miss the weeks of hoping someone from Sky will get in touch with a better offer.

They don't give up, do they? Left at the start of the year, not a week goes by when they don't phone or mail us stuff. I would've thought the point where we turned down a 100% discount for 6 months might have sent them a message (or the fact that every time they phone us I ask to be removed from the list). Number is blocked on my mobile but the house phone is taking the hit.

In terms of discount offers, 50% seems to be standard and usually what arrives in the post. Phone calls (when I've bothered to at least hear what they offer) have ranged from the 50% to 75% to entirely free for 6 months.

Bit of an update on this one.

I gave my notice a while back, and it was due to expire on the 31st July.

MySky stubbornly sat at 50%, so I tried Online chat.

I was offered 50% off the TV package and £20 account credit, but this meant keeping my existing clunky HD and ye olde white Sky+ boxes, with installation fees of about £115 if I wanted to replace them with Q ones. I declined.

The agent said that the details of the offer would stay on my account in case I decided to come back, and I decided to ring instead.

The result? Only 40% off the TV package, but FREE installation of a 2TB Q box and mini box, so cheaper overall than the 50% offer, and I'd get new shiny things.

I took this offer. smile

Still not gone back myself, been almost a year now. Although if they offered me 75% off rather than 60%, I'd be really tempted with the football season starting soon.

Also gone through this rigmarole. Cancelled yesterday and the 50% offer has popped up already.

To those who got 75% off, did you ring them in order to get that deal, or was it automatically offered to you? I've been offered 60% but I'm hoping for that bit more for a few months or so.

10 days until the notice period runs out and the 50% off for 12 months offer which appeared within hours of giving notice has been replaced with a 40% offer. Hmmm. I wonder whether the site tracks that I've checked what offers are available and adjusts it accordingly if it thinks I'm just holding out for a bigger discount.....?

Guess I'll have to try my luck on Livechat if things remain as they are.

Received www.sky.com/offer50 through the post. 50% off TV which makes it £72 per month when full TV package, fibre optic, line rental and HD are added.

Still holding out further as this more than my previous offer.

Well, after many, many years of subscription have just phoned to cancel them (on box set package @ £38 a month). Explained that BT TV offered most of what we watch for £12.50 (summer deal). After some discussion, was offered 30% on 18 month contract - said no. Then the old 'I'll speak to my manager' used car salesman gambit and came back with 40% and 18 month - declined this too (and said at 50% I might consider). No further offer made.

Just checked online and have a 40% and 12 month offer (so already an improvement on phone deal)

So will see in coming weeks whether this gets improved?

Fully prepared to leave unless they can make a compelling case cost wise to stay....

My notice period ran out this morning. Wife and daughter at home on holidays both unimpressed that they can only watch the free channels, so I was tasked with calling Sky first thing.....

The 40% off for 12 months offer still showed but gave an error message when clicked. I ended up using the chat function. The bloke offered to honour the 40% off but wouldn't budge from that. I told him there had initially been a 50% off for 12 months offer but he said offers change and he couldn't give it to me. To avoid GBH of the earhole when I get home, I grudgingly took the 40% offer.

To rub salt into the wound, checking future bills shows I'm now being charged £6 for the Sky Kids app when it was free before, despite the chat bloke expressly telling me it would be at no cost if I re-subbed to it. I'll end up having to call them when I get home after all. Sigh.

What can I say ... if you're going to threaten to quit then make sure you're ready to actually quit (LPT: Also applies to jobs).

If you just wanted a discount, then 50% for 12 months was pretty damn good just for a couple of phone calls. That would have been the point to accept the offer.

I don't blame them for giving you a worse deal when you phone up asking to be resubscribed almost the moment your service ends.
