You'd think people would have learned by now that saying that isn't so much tempting fate as giving it a huge kick in the bks.

Some info at the link here but nothing concrete, perhaps October.

I am looking forward to the new season, and hope they do away with some of the tedious/unfunny studio segments.

Saying that, even if they keep the same format I'm sure I'll watch it anyway. The first series was alright, certainly better than a lot of crap on tv. Most programmes have good and bad bits to them - let's face it, it's very rare to find any programme which has you gripped 100% from start to finish.

That's exactly why they won't change it. hehe

There will be three old blokes wearing blazers and jeans and some dodgy jewellery going to different places and making jokes which are sometimes a bit risqué. There will be some bits in a studio and some little movie segments and some stuff about cars.

The thread will be half full of people saying "it's rubbish" "it's for thickos" and another half getting angry and saying "I genuinely laughed at that bit" and "don't watch it then"

Me to, even if it is the same format as season 1, I am sure I will still watch it.

Gets my vote.

Prime day was an excuse to get a Fire Stick and watch TGT on the big screen, rather than on a tablet screen. I watched the first two "live" but have finally started catching up with the rest of them.

It's probably been covered long ago, but i felt the Nambia desert beach buggy thing was a bit too far fetched - I know it is entertainemnet etc, rather than a documentary, but it just felt a bit strained and cliched.
The celebrity death thing was funny the first 2 or 3 times time, but enough already.

I like that they can be a bit more natural and "sweary" in their dialogue. Yes, it's still very scripted, but I think everyone knows what the three of them are like off screen, and it does feel a bit more relaxed and realistic without the constraints of the BBC hand-wringers.

As for the rest of the FireStick content - I like the voice control, but I have no idea how to browse through like I do on a normal programme guide.

It's precisely what Elon Musk said before crashing his F1

Personally I can't stand the sweary dialogue in a show like this. They are three highly accomplished wordsmiths and swearing in this context is usually where you go when you're out of options and ideas. On Top Gear their 'riling' against the BBC and how far they could push the Corporation Boundaries was a huge source of entertainment, but here, with no real limits and the ability for them to do just about anything, it doesn't sit well.

One of the joys of Top Gear was that like Father Ted and The Goodies, it existed in its own strange and surreal Universe. Daft things would happen, weird facts about The Stig would be revealed, James would get lost, Hammond would get shouty, Jeremy would get even more factious and something utterly catastrophic would be met by a wonderfully British, " Oh dear. "

You can't hang on to the past, nothing lasts forever but there is great joy in simplicity.

I hope they ditch much of the stuff from last season but somehow I doubt they will. I think they might have been surprised how impressed a lot of people were with post-Evans TG, and that may make them up their game.

Do we have a start date?

Indeed. There does appear to be a bit of a "carry on regardless" mentality with them. They've not exactly been innovative so far.

I agree but I doubt they'll bother, they got great figures just doing what they've done for years, people love it, why would they want to change it?

The only hope is that the last series was in the bag before the poor reviews started rolling in.

Looks like the new series is due to start soon and they are looking for tickets

But not such the grand tour this time as the tent seems to be having a home in the Cotswolds

Moving the tent around the world did seem to be just showing off how much money Amazon had over the BBC though I reckon.
