The whole fish thing didn't bother me at all.

The terrible script and bad acting is a different matter though...
+1 poor episode.

How do you think the fish you eat with chips die? They are not dispatched humanely. I liked the episode. I laughed at May getting soaked and Hammond on the bike. I enjoyed the not so subtle digs at celebs who fly in in a helicopter, get their photos taken, and fly out again and then of course the trio promptly fly out on a helicopter. Bring on series 3.
Yep same. The first time he got soaked was very funny, as was JC brake testing him.

One thing I thought though. They have always pretended to hate each other but May looked like he wanted to kill Clarkson when he was doing the salt water thing. Genuinely seemed like he despised him.

I just think as a special it should have been longer. Some bits seemed a little rushed.

TG was a decent TV show, that occasionally did brilliant segments, but which also did some absolute rubbish.

Humans tend to rememeber stuff they like, while conveniently forgetting stuff they don't. So all those looking back with rose tinted specs are forgetting all the drossy bits of TG back in the day.

TGT is exactly the same. Most of its is decent, if not exceptional. Some parts are rubbish. A few bits a very good indeed.

Has anyone actually bothered to ask the fish how they feel about all this?

The thing TG is doing more of is the presenters racing against each other. That works well, particularly the coasting downhill challenge.

The problem with some of the challenges (both programmes) is that there is not enough jeopardy. You don't care if they make it.

In the races there is some serious competition and it's always better when an underdog (that is to say not Chris Harris) wins.

It was a weak episode, mainly because I think Mozambique just wasn't interesting to look at? It was basically 45mins of watching dirt roads with green bushes on either side. If the scenery and terrain had been more varied and interesting you could probably overlook the weak script.

Been a really good series I thought, they seem to be given a lot of freedom, it just seemed less forced and a bit more natural.

The last one had some funny moments, but I could see how some may get a little bit uneasy, claiming to end world hunger in a third world country was a little bit indelicate and perhaps somethign they should have stayed away from, but I think they know what they are, what the audience expect and no harm done, plus a lot of people got a entertained for an hour or so, and no doubt will do, globally, for many years to come

They did end up killing quite a few fish. It looked like they were keeping them in a tank in the back of a car sloshing around for days, I would hope they had some kind of animal handler on hand and they were treated humanely and any dead ones didnt die from stress, trauma or suffocating from lack of oxygen, also that the shots of dead ones were ones that were dispatched humanely. Not sure why hoping that the program makers would consider this would make me a "Snowflake" ? I suspect they did, but being Amazon Prime, they have no reason to mention it or I didnt notice any disclaimer. If nothing else it would be a bit short sighted as some do get aerated over such matters and hate them with a passion.
The dig at two-faced celebrities and incompetent third-world governments was well delivered.

But the script was very laboured.

And slowly suffocating a tank full of fish to death for entertainment was in poor taste. Just no need for it.

I hate to side with the "IT"S NOT REAL! furious" gang but d'you really think there were fish in that tank when the car was being driven?

I gave it another go and watched the rest of it tonight.

There were some amusing bits from time to time - the first time James got brake tested, the first time Hammond fell off, them turning the Merc into a trailer, but on the whole I felt I was grimly sticking it out rather than actively enjoying it like the previous two episodes.

I really don't think it was one of the better episodes, for me. But that's just my opinion and is neither "right" nor "wrong", just a comment on whether or not I enjoyed the episode.

Oh, and I agree - James May looked very genuinely pissed off. I really don't think he is a good enough actor for it to be anything other than genuine.

The first time May got soaked was definitely unscripted.
you think? I was waiting for it since the first shot of him driving the merchehe

Great laughs, for anyone who still hasn't grasped it the "wastage" was kind of the point, now we're in the long off season I hope all the h8rs can manage to find something they loath enough with enough fans they feel need to be constantly reminded of its failings, to tide them through.

Now we're in the long off season I hope all the hard of thinking can manage to understand that being disappointed with something and not fawning all over it at every opportunity doesn't amount to "h8ing" it.
fk me, how many times does that need explaining?

Every time I think GT isn't as good at TG was, I just remember the musical special they did: Top Gear of the Pops. That was so bad that it has disappeared from everywhere.
