They need to retire it. It’s just pointless now.

Albeit I really enjoyed the mongolia(?) one.
you know the net effect of you pressing the ignore button and not watching it is almost the same yeah?

But if the guy enjoyed one of them, maybe he’s watching in the hope that the quality doesn’t drastically vary and overall decline between episodes. Like maybe a focus group full of Pistonheaders one day just tells them why it’s awful and they make an amazing one.

Well I’ve only just got round to watching the latest one. Laughed out loud a few times, was seriously impressed with the GT and 7 getting across those roads. Couldn’t care less about the Asbo.

It’s silly mindless fun.

Quite right, I only signed up for Prime in December for next day delivery but seeing as I haven’t seen any of this new show I have watched it from S1E1 right up to the Bentley, RS and Caterham one, after every episode over the past 2 months I’ve then read this thread to the next point of call.

I see a lot of regular posters writing very similar posts over the 480odd pages which gets a bit tiring. What exactly are you expecting given their previous form?

I cannot stand those Geordie pair ITV have presenting most of their prime time shows so I don’t watch them.
It’s the same on the Top gear thread too same old story people start hating the episode minutes into it....then they think back oh we loved the 3 porsches for £1.5k that was good all st thereafter.

If you don’t like don’t watch or if you do then don’t bother posting online - it’s like OCD a bit odd

OCD isn't odd. That's ODD.

I was late to watch the last GT series. You know what to expect, really.

The mongolia tour was very good, as was H & M teasing Clarkson about his knowledge on it...."if you'd have been asked questions about mongolia on Who Wants to be a Millionaire...!"
Clarkson properly welled up at the end of the series, and I expect they will do some more road trips this year, pandemic permitting....

(For some reason I can't use a capital "M" at the beginning of M.ongolia on PH??)

I'm looking forward to his farming show, I enjoyed May's cooking show, Hammond's show was rubbish in comparison.

Anybody been to his farm? its about 40 mins from me but very rarely head that way.

Some of them were ok, too many were aimed at thicko’s. It’s frustrating that they seem to aim all TV at the less intelligent these days. People like Hammond understand engineering, so why does it have to be aimed so low?

Because (like everything) numbers matter. The fact is that 'lowest common denominator' TV gets the most ratings (Britain's Got Talent, Ant and Dec, anything hosted by Paddy McGuinness or a TV chef, reality TV, etc etc.) and eyes on the product are what brings in ad revenue.

Even with things like 'Big', they need to make it accessible. Top Gear wouldn't have been anything like the phenomenon it was, if they'd just reviewed cars like geeks. It took crashing, falling over, acting like dopes in order to really make waves in the modern ratings war.

Just a reflection of what makes up a lot of present day 'entertainment' I'm afraid.

As for "people like Hammond understanding engineering" - I'd suggest you rethink that belief. wink 'People like Hammond' understand how to read a cheatsheet provided by researchers, then make it sound convincing on camera. (And I say that having done my own fair share of voice/presenting work - you can tell people cigarettes are good for them in a convincing way, if that's what the script says. biggrinbiggrin )

I’m sure his accountant is happy enough about the steady stream of work from ITV.

On the biggest container ship, when that one got stuck there was a guy who layered the ship over google maps to scale over English towns/city centres. Not sure how that one rated on size, but to see it layered over Leeds city centre really showed me how ridiculously big those things are. I had no idea, or at least couldn’t comprehend it until I saw it over somewhere I knew.
