I really enjoyed the first episode of series 3, agree with the general consensus that series 1 was crap, series 2 much improved. If the latest episode is anything to go by then Series 3 should be even better still
I'd go along with that!No cringe moments in this episode which was nice.
If the series carries on like this, I'll be a happy bunny.
I like the current TG too, so two decent shows featuring interesting cars and with great trips to interesting places included, then what's not to like?
"Clarkson" is of course a knobber, but that's the character he's playing up to. It helps that he's a bit of a helmet in real life too, so it's not too much of a stretch!

Well, that was a bit, erm, average.
Average is a massive exaggeration. That was absolute garbage. Quite easily the two part special could have been one part. They only had about 2 minutes worth of filming worth watching in this episode.
I wouldn't even waste my time with this episode.

Listened to a podcast this morning with Richard Porter who said that this will be the last series with any Tent stuff.
From now on it will be a few feature length road trip style episodes a year.
It's very obvious that they have been listening to what people are saying and want - I think that is excellent news. Their "big" stuff is almost always very good to excellent (although that India Special was dire in the extreme). When I heard it was called The Grand Tour in the first place I thought that is what they were going to do - glad it is actually turning out that way. From now on it will be a few feature length road trip style episodes a year.
I must admit, as a die hard fan of the golden TG years - Bolivia, North Pole etc, I think for me at least, it's jumped the shark.
The jokes and plots just haven't moved with the times. I'm slowly falling into the "watch begrudgingly" category, where I applaud the increasingly few genuinely funny moments, but feel nostalgic and sad when watching three old men winch a 4x4 to start a jungle journey, knowing that they did a better job of exactly that nearly a decade before.
And by the by, the phrase "jumped the shark" has an amusing history... more entertaining at least that the veiled references to drug smuggling and an awkward spot of donkey bothering.

I think Jeremy looks and sounds old (I know he is but long in the tooth now). I still like May but the new series ...only watched episode 1 which I'd have expected something amazing, was pure tosh. 3 big kids playing in cars who aren't following any script with a kiddy with a camera following. The video isn't as good as top gear and what is, is copied such as the car becoming a sketch/cartoon.
