Hate-watching is a thing, and the thing is, still make up the numbers watching it.

To be honest my interest was only held as they visited places I have spent a fair amount of time in , Chau Doc and Vung Tau. ( although we didn’t see too much of Vung Tau itself )
I really wanted to like it more but it just didn’t flow as other specials have done. The banter is getting far too predictable now and the general crashing into things , leave James behind , defacing Richards stuff , buying gifts etc , etc has worn a bit thin.

The original Vietnam special on the bikes was fantastic ,and I could easily rewatch that a few times a year without getting bored. But the latest installment really didn’t hit the spot.

It was the first ever program I watched after signing up to Prime. I'd never seen TGT before, how can that be 'hate watching'?

I like watching for the scenery and places they go and people they come across.

I don’t care if it’s cars. As mentioned the bike one was excellent.

I did enjoy this too as I mentioned above, yes I love cars but I know cars and there are plenty of other excellent car shows on YouTube.

This is more entertainment than sometimes has cars in. With the specials cars were never the draw for me.

Only 2 a year? And that was one of them?
That is depressing.
Exactly.

If that had been the first of a 10 episode series it would have been more forgivable.

My review would be based on someone paying me to watch it again, for £20.
Once was enough, I’d not waste an hour watching it again.

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, but there wasn’t much there to really get too excited about.

Haven't watched much Grand Tour, I utterly despise Amazon so never going to happen

Bits I have seen it just seems a lot more sweary and bickery than Top gear. With the same old formats as the old show, which started well for years then ended up being a very poor sketch show.

its now a very tired format and basically a huge retirement fund for all involved, and it shows. To the point where they now cant be arsed to even do a series.

Sad, not funny,

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I don't feel particularly compelled to watch it again, whereas one of the original TG specials would probably be on its third rewatch by now.

Watched last night in true TG tradition, enjoyed it, but not a classic. A few good laughs, brain out tv.

Bit late to the party, but having taken out a free Amazon Prime sub to watch all the Boxing day football, I am now working my way through TGT.

Didn't bother with Series 1 having given up at episode 3 when I last had AP, 4 years ago......getting towards the end of season 2.

Having scanned through this thread this morning, I'm not sure what all the moaning is about really. For me, its an enjoyable return to the old new Top Gear I enjoyed and certainly an awful lot better than the recent series' of BBC TG. Will hopefully catch right up to date before the free trial ends! Yes I am a skinflint.....

Yes series one was unwatchable at times but other than that TGT was usually entertaining and had some very good episodes. Shame they have gone down to only two episodes a year, but that is not necessarily for ever, even with them approaching retirement age.

Just look at all the actors still going strong in their seventies.

I don’t think it will matter what they do as the format is a bit tired. Having caught the old top gear Africa and Vietnam specials recently, excellent tv. Bit of cars or bikes, 3 relatable northern blokes (without the hammed up accents) and safe for all family ages and exotic scenery and history bits.

It’s just run it’s course a bit, so the new boat one is a welcome if still slightly tired change.

I’m actually really looking forward to Clarksons farm show.

I have to admit that that was nicely put and something I'd not thought about in terms like that

2 a year is probably all they can squeeze in with busy individual schedules.
You get the impression they dont really interact as a team for a lot of it and just fly in to do their bit and go.
They could do more while on location and then divide the same trip into 2x90mins really.

I don't think it was their decision to change the series format....

Agreed. I've always seen it as fitting in with the culture and it being expected. Now I feel like a dick when it's a lot of money for the seller, but is nothing to me.
