I have to admit that that was nicely put and something I'd not thought about in terms like that
Agreed. I've always seen it as fitting in with the culture and it being expected. Now I feel like a dick when it's a lot of money for the seller, but is nothing to me.

I've not been able to find any details about the PBR. I'd happily watch two hours of TV about the design and build of that.

Anyone else looked?

Madagascar should be a good one - fantastic place but so poor it's almost stone age in the rurals.

Even if you barter you’ll still pay more than locals. I think the best way is to barter and agree a fair price, not the absolute lowest they will take. And leave a tip if you want. But just blindly paying whatever they ask for just means that foreigners will get ripped off more and more as time goes on. Don’t think Clarkson did his argument any favours when he ended up paying £20 for a fake belt.

I agree, but equally someone happily paying £1500 in flights to an American or Middle Eastern company, then arguing over £2.50 with a poor local who will never have the money to fly anywhere is a dick move.

in some cultures not haggling at least a bit is seen as quite condescending from what I gather.

Had a couple of hours to kill so I rewatched the Ford Cortina tribute and Scotland Road Trip episodes from series 3. TGT really was getting into its stride just before they canned the 'tent' format (and because the shows are something you have to go actively looking for rather than waiting for them on an endless loop on Dave, that is something that will sadly go unappreciated in future).

Shame!

I'm guessing this thread is dead for a reason?

I've got another Amazon Trial and started The Seamen tonight. It's really slow paced so far. They don't look as if they are enjoying it either.

Probably because there hasn’t been a new episode to comment on.

I didn't realise it was just a one off. I though it was the start of a series. I should have read back a page or two.

First time ever I've turned off TGT. It was boring.

It got amazingly exciting JUST after you turned it off.

Watched "Seamen" this week
It was rather predictable in the kind of boats they'd choose, the st they'd give May, etc.
It's all a bit clichéd now. frown

I understood it is a new series, but series is now going to be 2x a year specials. Hardly seems worth the effort for them to be honest, wouldn't be surprised if it gets cancelled when contracts are up.

I watched James May in Japan. It looked like he seems to prefer the lack of larking around and need to play up to the camera and go at a slower pace,

Given it was £160m for the 2 or was it 3 series what do we think the 3 stars took as pay out of it?

Also does anyone know the reason for the name sting....
