I saw it last night, it's pretty shocking if you analyse it as a proper film in any way at all. But it was fairly entertaining and has some impressive action sequences in it (although they are genuinely ridiculous even for a F&F film - the submarine....the automated cars....the car on fire race etc).

I did find the fight with the baby in the carrier actually quite funny, in-fact there were a number of pretty funny lines throughout the film.

The plot isn;t worth discussing, it's beyond stupid, convoluted and basically desperately put together simply to get the action (Dom vs Team) that they wanted.

The whole first scene in Cuba is dreadful and cheesy and stupid.

But I kind of enjoyed it as a brain-out movie, it has a few nice vehicles and I love the Rock in pretty much everything he does.

I actually really enjoyed it, as said, I viewed it as a 'brain out' type film and thought it was great.

I'd agree with almost all of that having just got back from seeing it. It's beyond daft but very entertaining with at least eleventy billion plot holes if you care about that sort of thing.....it's F&F so par for the course.

Vin Diesel seems to be in an entirely different movie to everyone else who seem to be having a great time, the Rock and the Stath were the highlights, seemed to be genuinely cracking up throwing insults at each other.

An entertainingly daft movie

Off to watch it on Tuesday night with a few friends, we've been to the cinema to watch every one so it's become a ritual.

Same with me.

I saw the first one with my friends and we've been to watch them all, but honestly this last one... I still don't know what to think!

We kind of all walked out in silence at the end and no one really knew what to say about it.

I'm all for silly action films with a piss poor plot, but I almost couldn't bear to watch this one as it was so ridiculous.

I dunno, maybe it's just me??

More ridiculous than 2 cars towing a massive room sized safe whilst chased by hundreds of police cars and the baddies biggrin

Yes. As unbelievable as it sounds, yes.

Saw it last night. I think they've nuked the fridge with this, relative to previous FF films of course!

Whilst the first two seemed to me to be some kind of serious attempt at a "car" film that just came off horrendously cheesy, the later ones have been much more enjoyable as they just had some fun with it and didn't take life too seriously. All a bit characterture-like.

They've steadily wound up the sillyness, but i felt the previous movies did at least attempt to ground the film in some kind of reality by keeping a foot, or half a foot, in the real world. This was down to a lot of the stunts and chases being live action and done properly. And whilst some plot points were a bit nonsensical you could kind of forgive them.

But this was just outright daft; my suspension of disbelief limit is pretty elastic, but they finally managed to break it here.

I don't know. I expected it to be brain out silly, and yet it was just too much. Charlize Theron's? character was unbelievably generic and practically two dimensional. Really didn't like her character...Like a last minute.com bogey man.

They seem to have gradually become less and less about the cars also. Whereas before they were very much stars in their own right, in this installment they're very much background and i really don't like how the cars were essentially characterture like extensions to main acts.

More crummy CGI as well, unnecessary in many places.

Lots of decent banter though. Got a good few laughs in the cinema. Jason Stathem did a really good job of being Jason Stathem, especially in the prison and aircraft scenes.

Girl who plays Ramsey; total crap. As was the "new guy". In short it was really all a bit Michael Bay; lots of loud bangs and flashing lights. Though stopped short of being totally incoherent like the last transformers movie.

I'd gladly watch 4,5,7 and maybe 6 again ( have 5 and 7 on Blu-ray) but i wouldn't countenance 8. And with the naming in the final scene i would hope that is the series laid to rest (unless they want to tone it down).

Awful.

Her acting was toe-curlingly embarrassing.

As a nation we seem very good at producing young ladies who are appallingly awful wooden actresses it's actually beyond belief. See Naomie Harris who now plays Moneypenny in the Bond films for further evidence.

I enjoyed it, the fight on the airplane was a good homage to John Woo films. It did generally remind me of a 90s Pierce Brosnan Bond film though.

She (Ramsey), used to be a character in that hive of quality acting and story....holly oaks. It's bottom of the barrel stuff, though still has more depth than something like made in Chelsea

I saw it during the week and have mixed feelings about it.

Yes, it feels like the dead horse has been flogged so much its now lasagne, and that some of the acting is truly awful (squarely aimed at Tyrese Gibson) however, as has been mentioned, its a good entertaining film if you want to watch something you don't really have to concentrate on for a couple of hours.

Statham and The Rock were great in this, and I have to say that without them, the film would be getting a 3 out of 10 from me.

Saw it this afternoon and thought it was brilliant. Launching cars out of airplanes and jumping from skyscraper to skyscraper WAS farfetched. This new one however hasn't that bad and I enjoyed it. smile

They estimate that they've destroyed around 2000 cars making the franchise. (Approx 250 per film)

A lot of them interesting/classics.

I don't normally get all "doe eyed" over a car or 2 being mashed. But it does seem a colossal waste. Especially since they aren't buying stters. But half decent examples of cars that aren't necessarily in production anymore. Eg Loads of Mk1 escorts were lost as were quite a few E60 M5's (they all get crushed after filming) I daresay they've lost some American Muscle too.

I suggest to the court that actually Fast&Furious is funded by the green lobby biggrin

I agree it does seem to be flogging a dead horse, but its a serious cash cow for the studio so you can see why everyone film is becoming bigger with more stunts and action scenes. Already 9 and 10 have been given release dates.

Some of the characters did seem a bit uncomfortable in these Tyrese and the new girl who plays Ramsey (very english wooden performance). I like Statham in this one, and showed his ability doing stunts, and alot more comfortable in front of the camera.

It becomes more and more ridiculous as a film but easy watch.
