Hmm. I want to like this but it's leaving me a bit cold.

Things I can think of:

- Spidey isn't built like Thor or Cap, but nor is he a skinny pin kid.
- Spidey shouldn't need a suit from Tony Stark* to be Spidey. "I'm nothing without this suit"? That lined really jarred with me.
- Maybe I've seen seen too many Spidey films to get excited about another one.

*yeah, I know in the comics Spidey had some Stark designed armour for a while, but this is his regular suit in the film and it's not armour.

It looks ok.

I'm not comfortable that Spidey needs Stark tech for his suit....but the web shooters always annoyed me, that's why I liked the change in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

I'm sure it'll push buttons on the Ant-Man level...at least with Spidey there is no altrnate 'spidey' villain...like every other start-up MCU film.

One thing that is interesting, treating Spidey like a kid, when all the other supes are adults, that might be interesting.

Looks pretty cool - another slam dunk for Marvel.......?

Just watched the Justice league trailer too.......and it just feels lame somehow. I don't have high hopes for it. DC just don't seem to be able to capture the same magic that Marvel have (that said - Wonder Woman does look pretty cool)
Marvel really have nailed how to produce blockbusters. The key has been making comics that appeal to 12 year old boys into films that appeal to both genders of all ages.

We watch marvel films as a family, and my wife also buys them on Blu-ray. She is more of a fan than I am. The majority of films we will be seeing this year are Marvel.

Making a Spiderman movie appeal to a 48 year old woman shows just how good they are.

Well the main roster has been around since the 60's, they know that they have all that baby boomer generation cash to trawl in.

The telly range looks huge now as well.

Watched this morning in IMAX. Really impressed, showed Parker as a young kid dealing with being over zealous, authority etc, Keaton is brilliant as the Vulture and the story is good too.

Won't say any more until more have watched but there are two post credit scenes - one after the snazzy credits and one right at the very end that is wellworth waiting for hehe

This is probably the most comprehensive review of it out so far and it really explains a lot of the interesting complexities of the character and the plot:

It looks great, hopefully see it soon

Watched it last night. Enjoyed it, despite a small child kicking the back of my seat throughout the film.
I thought the most recent re-boot from Sony, with Andrew Garfield as Spiderman, was dreadful. People told me it’s because they are not making these films for my generation, but for the kids that are reading the comics now. To which I replied “well then the kids are being short changed, because the Spiderman comics I remember were better than this rubbish”.
Marvel Studios clearly know how to make their characters work on the big screen in a way other studios can’t.
The best compliment I can give ‘Homecoming’ is that it has the same sense of joy and delight as when Christopher Reeve first made me believe a man could fly.

That is pretty high praise.

RLM (as ever) have done great vids on why TASM 2 was a large failure. SOny have had a rapprochement with Disney/Feige but they are still desperate to instantly start their own universe (a sure fire way to create pap) what with the Venom/Black Cat/Sable films al slated for release. SOny have a solid history of failures in recent years, they might just muddy the waters going forward. I see Spider-Man Homecoming making a billion though. With a combined budget of 350, it may even get close to 1 billion profit. They reckon it'll open to 100 mill in the US>

Saw it tonight - thought it was pretty good.

Not the strongest MCU film - but definitely the best incarnation of Spiderman.

Saw this today and feel a little bit underwhelmed to be honest. Good watchable film but not as good as Spiderman 1 or 2.

I also think the actions sequences and art and costume design have gone backwards from the earlier movies as well. Mainly though it looks as though it has gone after the teenage market in a big way and lost some of the charm that made the earlier movies such a cross-generational hit.

Good version of the Vulture though.

Yep me too - genuine LOL.

I think it shows they genuinely understand their audience to be able to pull something like that off.

We saw it as a family last night.

My son and I thought it was good, but my wife and daughter thought it was brilliant. My wife didn't think she would like it because he was "just a kid".

Marvel really have nailed making family films. My wife and daughter are the ones who know when all the film's are coming out, my wife books the tickets, and she buys the Bluerays as soon as they come out.

Saw it on Friday evening. I thought Keaton was totally brilliant and the uncomfortable scene in the car as they're dropped off at the prom was wonderfully menacing. Holland was a lot better than I was expecting, although there were moments where I thought the squealing, whining was a bit too much.

Great mix of humour and action with a pretty good story.

I think I'm a bit bored of seeing Tony Stark in every MCU movie now, though. Please, please stop.
