Sounds like Velocity/Discovery f**ked it up by reducing the workshop stuff.
Some very careful product placements in that video i think tongue out
Good on him, interested to see what he comes up with next.

All the best to him. Good move; WD had become very scripted and Americanised of late. Could just about put up with Mike Brewer, knowing the remaining 75% of screen time would be Ed and his fixes. Won't be watching it again.

I really don't get all these "I will never watch it again" comments.

Dunno about anyone else, but I intend to give it a go and then make a decision.

I do.

For many people (myself included) Ed China WAS wheeler dealers, whereas there was a top gear before the CHM era there has never been a wheeler dealers that didn't feature it. I like many saw the USP of the show as Ed's pieces to the camera and the workshop stuff.

His departure and his reasons given imply that Velocity want to remove alot of the workshop bits and given the fact the last couple of stateside series have almost seen him written out with him 'out of the workshop' a couple of times this rings true.

I have absolutely no desire to watch a wheeler dealers without Ed.

Creative difference. The Yanks take it and screw it up again. Good on Edd for telling them to jam it. Good luck Edd!

If they chopped Rory "cant hold a steering wheel right" Reid I think that would be a perfect fit.

From his statement I kind of see what Velocity want to do which is basically a Blue Peter. This one I prepared earlier kind of thing and skip how the repair is done. Which is probably how the majority of people do it, fk it I'll buy a new part or a recon one... at this sponsored brand!! a bit like Motor Trend do.

But if they do have this massive global audience I would say a lot of people don't buy that part and how would they as it probably won't exist in their country.

Greedy producers! basically sold out although after 12 years they have had enough. http://www.attaboytv.com if you see their website it's a very small operation.

Let's hope Edd finds a suitable TV project to front up - remember Salvage Squad ?
His input on WD was always way more entertaining than that spiv Mike Brewer
(Ps never knew he had his own car sales business). The only thing incongruous about WD
was that for a show based on what a home mechanic could achieve this guy had
every tool and I mean every tool ! a man cave could have.

There's some very good car content on YouTube lately, but mostly America based, here's hoping he's going in that direction personally.

Since old wheeler dealers stopped. IE going to the US and spending as much money as they can i've lost interest.

But as said a shame Edd's left but I can understand why

From the sounds of things (I haven't seen the youtube video yet) he left WD because they are dumbing it down and filling the show with scripted nonsense/made up drama. Do you really think he would be a good fit with Top Gear?

I don't actually, and I just said it for a laugh.

Edd has grown visibly as a TV presenter, developing his style from an initial awkwardness into confidence, but I think he's best placed on factual shows, which WD seems to be shying away from in future.

Likewise. It might be quite good for all I know so will give it a chance.

If you have 50 minutes to waste...

They do up a BMW M3 - Michel Brasseur (or whatever his name is) could talk for France and Edd Chine looks like he has just turned up after a hard night out.

For some strange reason I think he might fit in quite well with Guy Martin for certain projects.

Love Edd, but he's not really a petrol head or a driver, just watch him on WD's, it cant help that he don't fit in most cars wink

I hope he goes full time on youtube, he will be able to control the content and make what he enjoys, and if Shmee and Colin Furze can make a good income from it there is no reason why Edd cant

I'd argue he has more to do with cars than Rory Reid

Don't you suspect that Edd has been making a little more than a 'good living' the last few years? wink

I don't think he will be needing to resort to YT income and sponsorships just yet.
