Cheers for the suggestions. Giving Al Murray's Road to Berlin a watch first.

World War Weird is currently running on Yesterday, it's a tad fluffy but some interesting snippets that I didn't know.

Battlefield Vietnam

Goes from Dien Bien Phu to the American pullout from Vietnam and fall of Saigon. About 10 episodes IIRC with descriptions of battle tactics, troops involved, artillery etc etc... . I think I've seen a 'special' on Dien Bien Phu somewhere out there... the story of the French defence of the valley in '54 is astonishing.

It was on National Geographic that I saw it.

Hunting Hitler - The true story of how he escaped from Berlin, fled to Argentina, or Spain, or the dark side of the moon, fathered a child with a Romanian gypsy and got him adopted by a German Property developer (funded with plundered gold teeth) in the States with a view to him creating the Fourth Reich after, unexpectedly, working with a Russian despot to become US President...

Cast - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5248878/fullcredits?re...

Himself played by himself, himself played by himself etc.. Is it wrong to have scanned down all the "himself" lists expecting to see Adolf Hitler - Himself. hehe

That's the one. I borrowed the series on CD from a war buff friend. I believe he downloaded it.

Not a documentary but Band of Brothers is a superb non-fiction WW2 series.
Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1993 book of the same name.
The blu ray comes in a lovely metal tin too.

I think if you go back and watch it without all the expectation of BoB it's pretty decent TV.

I was disappointed when I first watched it, being a huge fan of BoB, but I got the series on DVD a couple of years later and, whilst it's still not BoB, it's got some great moments.

I think the main problem is that they had 3 different stories going, which meant you lost track of the minor characters and didn't really care/know when someone died, whereas in BoB, every character feels important.
