definitely some truth in that, it pales by comparison

Pacific also had way too much home time / love interest bks - I signed up for blood/guts/heroism/tragedy/loss

Might give it another go - I remember a couple of the battle scene episodes being good

I won't argue with that, it was based on three memoirs, so some of the back story is drawn from those, something that's really lacking from BoB (some would argue - I think BoB is pretty much perfect, personally).

The crossing of the airfield, for example, though, is right up there with BoB and the scenes on Iwo Jima (I think it is) are grim in a way BoB never was (Hacksaw Ridge draws on it a lot in look and feel of the battles, I felt).

The Last Days Of The Nazis, which I believe is a new series? On H2, and has some hard hitting stories, and footage in it!

The Colour of War, 2001 series of real colour footage from WWII. It's been on the H2 channel.

That is the US narration, the series on H2 used British.

Unique colour footage of the Lancaster squadron at RAF Hemswell - https://youtu.be/7KmVJfwA21o?list=PLr-eKlg8yTW9jKm...

Personally, I'm never a huge fan of the documentaries that use actors for narration.

Having watched a couple of the Battlefield documentaries, they go into a lot of detail, as they should at knocking on for 2 hours. Definitely worth watching though.
