For those who are unaware, the 718 Cayman will be reviewed by Chris Harris tonight. I imagine it'll much the same as his Boxster review last year, where he disliked the engine. Regardless, I'm still keen to see it and what time it gets on the track. Worth watching for fans and non-fans alike smile

Yep I'll be watching.

He puts in quite a good defence of the F4T on his PH video review in response to other more critical reviews, so am wondering if he'll be equally reasonable in TG.

It just summed up my own opinion of the 718 boxster S I test drove.

Faster, sharper handling, better steering than the 981S but the sound of the engine was so ste, I just bought a 981S instead.

I wasn't expecting him to hate it that much. But he clearly feels like alot of us did when we drove the 718 from the 981.

I expected him to be a lot more negative than he was.

I agree with him 100%, especially about the 718 branding.

I was mistaken, it was Dan Trent who reviewed as above, not Chris Harris.

Very much the same as the same as his previous previous Boxster review. Objectively better, but emotionally worse. No great surprises there.

Why didn't you go Miami Blue out of curiosity... worried it would draw too much attention to you or, resale worries?

Yep, I had a 718 BS for the day when my beloved 981 CS was in for it's MOT. I came to the same conclusion. I didn't get that 'yeah, in a few years time' feeling or the urge to do the man maths.

Understandable if you want to go incognito, under the radar. Before my 981 I had a Solar Orange TTS, people used to say I'd struggle moving it on... traded it in at the specialist I got the Cayman from. Sold in 2 weeks. I'd have had racing yellow if I could've found one. I think the more lively and vibrant colours in the Porsche range are not going to suit all... come resale time there will always be those not wanting black, white, shades of grey etc. Miami Blue, Lava Orange, Yellow.... just the ticket.

I find Harris a bit annoying and the review was predictable, slightly boring and a few inaccuracies that from a supposedly well regarded journo should have been picked up on.

They called it a 50k car but drove an S which looked like it had a good few options so in reality 60k. The base model is more like a 50k car so why not drive this one.

And I'd like to know where Harris can buy a GTS for 50k.

The same place he can get a 718 cayman s with spec for 50k smile.

I was more surprised that the lap time was the same as the M3. I thought it would have been quicker.

He never said he'd buy one for £50k, he said he'd buy a CGTS over a new 718S smile

Yep, it was a second faster than the M3 on the Grand Tour.

Same lap time as the CGTS too. Not a surprise I guess, given it's almost the same car with the same power output. The extra low-down torque clearly doesn't improve the lap time.
