Shame about the Star Wars sound effects in last nights episode.
What sound effect was that?
I believe he is referring to the non-existent sound of laser guns firing in space
35m 37sec in episode 5. Bring on the pod racers and the star destroyer laser cannons. wink
they've never done that before in trek...

I'm not totally trusting that fella that Lorca brought back; have a bad feeling ...

But that mirror bit threw us; knew there would be some price to pay for him using the DNA injection to get the spore drive working. Mirror universe again ... and I'm pretty sure that Harry is going to be back at some point.
I've got a feeling that the whole of Discovery is set in the mirror universe seen in TNG etc. So these are actually the the 'bad' versions of all the people we'd normally be used to. Suit the Section 31 theories.

Also reckon the new guy Lorca rescued is actually the albino Klingon. That would attempt to tie up all the difference Klingon appearances

I'm a big trekky fan but not a nerd on trek. Always watched Star trek.

But i'm really enjoying Discovery.

And of the thought if you don't like it don't watch. simples.
I for now am enjoying it. It's different. And thats not a bad thing.

But i'm only on episode 3

Of course! I think you’re probably right. That ties in with the line about him having to give up “everything”

great to hear.

And I have to say I don't half get a laugh out of the people who notice " klingon" is not spoken with the right tone. OMG they shot someone and on the next shot they have 3 less burnt strands on their top.
Just makes me glad i have a life

FOR THE EDIT NOT MEANT TO BE ANYONE ON THIS THREAD. just saying

Sounds completely different to me. Sounds like Star Trek.

The bit I mentioned above from episode 5. I bet if you removed the voices and visuals and just played the audio to a group of people titled Trek or Wars? Most would say the latter. It was the pod racer engines nosies more than anything.

I know what you mean, but I think Spock's ship sounded like that in the 2009 film. It's definitely an overused sound effect, but it did not diminish my enjoyment of the episode which I think was great. So far I have enjoyed each episode more than the last. Nostalgia is a powerful thing and Next Gen Star Trek was so distinctive in style. It changed from the 60s to the 80s films and to Next Gen and kept just enough of the old feel to bring in old fans as well as attracting new.

If the Tardigrade had dessicated to survive, where did the water come from to rehydrate it?

Tbh I never liked those remake films. They just seemed to be wannabe Star Wars films.

As well as Star Wars sound effects. They even used some Empire uniforms eek

Some of the early Next Gen effects were, but the later stuff still looks good to me. The first season of Babylon 5 holds the wooden spoon for special effects!

I think they have remastered TNG. Some of the ship scenes look superb on my 60” HD plasma. But for some reason don’t look so good on my 49” 4K LED TV.

I'm not a fan of the remakes either, but I'll still go and see it if they make another.....

I would not say that looks very Star Wars like, more present day military or those "space Nazis" in Battlestar Galactica 80.

Knew those uniforms looked familiar for some reason!

Added nothing , and spoilt what has always ( up to now) been something you can safely sit youngsters down to watch .
Dumbing down to appeal to those with restricted vocabularies.
