How the hell its getting great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes I have no idea
Because they threatened to investigate the accounts of anyone giving it a negative review. Doing that is "hate speech" apparently.
However I worry that those involved in producing it are simply hiding behind an -ism rather than accepting the film was st, knowing that it will rally people to the cause whether it is good or bad. It might be a genuine issue with Black Panther (what with the prominent racist groups in the US) however Ghostbusters was awful, and the wife who was looking forward to it asked for us to switch it over after thirty minutes.
when you say 'they claim' - wasn't it in response to a Facebook group specifically set up to target the film?

Saw this last night, really enjoyed it and defo worth a watch.
Great action and some good LOL humour; I thought Killmonger, Klaue and the army general nailed their performances.
8.5/10 for me :-D
About the same for me, a pleasant distraction for a few hours.Great action and some good LOL humour; I thought Killmonger, Klaue and the army general nailed their performances.

People seem to have utterly unrealistic expectations for blockbuster films nowadays, the intense butthurt I get to read about after seeing a film I enjoyed adds 0.5 to the score.
Saw this last night, enjoyable but not great.
The "humour" for me was disappointing and in some places just fell flat, the "colonial" reference and Black Panther's sister said something along the lines of "white boy", regarding Martin Freeman; both of these to me, wreaked of double standards, imagine if there was an only black guy amongst white people and he was termed "black boy", well it just wouldn't happen.
As mentioned already the CGI was a tad dodgy; the action scenes were fantastic but the scenes set in the homeland with a vista behind the characters just looked like they were standing infront of a big photograph.
7/10 for me I think.

Not too sure. I just know that they decided blame these groups for the flop of the Ghosbusters remake rather than the fact it was bloody awful. Inverse said:

Would be sad if these groups do exist. I say that as it wouldn’t surprise me if they did exist due to angry nutters hating women/blacks (plenty of them about), but also because I wouldn’t put it past the studios to create the groups themselves to use as a convenient scapegoat for movie flops when they realise “oh crap, this isn’t working out as we envisioned”.

Sounds like a great plot for a movie. Would be sad if these groups do exist. I saw this on Thursday night with my 16 year old laddie. It was decent enough, but not fantastic. It seemed very formulaic and by the numbers with a well trodden story. Serkis was firmly hamming it up and loving every minute!
Still not a patch on my favourite MCU so far, The Winter Soldier.

Not meaning to derail the thread, but interesting to see similar tactics used in politics (looking at the Trump and EU vote).
Thanks for posting that.

Saw this today. not overly impressed and it dragged a bit, didn't live up to hype that's for sure.
As others have said the leading man did not really have the charisma to carry the movie but I am sure he will improve for next time. To my mind it would work so much better with a sort of coming to america theme with him as an African King being a fish out of water in an american city - maybe this will be the way to go in the sequel.
