Just back from seeing this and is absolutely superb.

Very different and very very good. Go see.

'A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom'

This is getting great reviews across the board.

Really hope it gets some good screen time in cinemas and is a success. I was gutted Scott Pilgrim never really found an audience (ahead of its time, I think), one of the best cinema experiences I've had.

Was a bit concerned it would be crap as the advert is seriously long in the cinema, but I will give it a go. Not getting into my local cinema until next Thursday.

The british director Edgar Wright came up with this concept back in 1994 but couldn't get a studio to take it.

In the end he adapted the film's original planned beginning into a 2003 music video he directed for Mint Royale's "Blue Song"

He later kicked himself when the video became unexpectedly popular.

At least in 2017 a studio finally took his concept and we get to see it properly. cool

Thought the same too, especially as it shows 'A talented, young getaway driver' driving an automatic hehe

Saw it earlier in the week.

Not a bad film. Seen better, seen worse, but is really forgettable fluff that nobody will remember next year. I particularly thought the script was a bit weak.

Edgar Wright collaborates with Simon Pegg quite a bit doesn't he? I can imagine this would be good based on his previous work.

Yep, co-wrote and directed the Cornetto Trilogy. Also developed Ant Man before being ditched before filming, the film is clearly very Edgar Wright in parts even though it was directed by somebody else.

There's a very brief split-second-blink-and-you'll-miss-it homage to Blue Song in Baby Driver. For just a couple of frames we see Noel Fielding in the video on a TV screen within one of the scenes.

Quite an enjoyable movie, stylish in places, great editing in others and a bit too schmultzy towards the end, but it's very watchable.

Saw this tonight and loved it. They must have choreographed the soundplay well to get assault rifle shots (audio and video) in line with the tracks. Think I will see it again in a court or of weeks and would recommend it

I enjoyed it but as it's being sold as an Edgar Wright action/car chase film so I was expecting more chases and more laughs. It's very good but, for me, not great. I would have liked the film to be interested in cars or at least to have a character like them because there's next to nothing and another chase – there's only two of any length.

Although not really a problem the characters are fairly one dimensional but they are still believable and I don't think anyone's buying tickets to this expecting a character study.

The only thing that annoyed me was a couple of scenes where people talk about music, in fact the film is much more interested in music than cars, I find these kind of scenes boring and indulgent in any film. Just play the songs and show us the emotions.

Reading that back it sounds harsh I don't mean it to be it's just I feel it was just another brilliant chase and two or three more laughs from being excellent.

Great film. Loved it. It is not related but ironically could be a prequal to to "driver" 2011 with ryan gosling

Much better than I expected. Felt really fresh. Music well chosen.

I thought there was a good balance of the various elements in the film, nothing massively gratuitous.

He wrote the entire film in detailed scenes matched to specific music (before he got clearance for the songs!) When approaching actors etc he sent them a CD with the script.

The complete antithesis to increasingly pointless, inane, fake "Fast" franchise.

No CGI, real action, proper music, characters, humour, proper direction, genuine smiles at the film.

Saw this yesterday. Thought it was really good. Unfortunately the cinema failed to get the projector in focus by a tad...but still a good film.
