The original Predator movie was released in the USA 30 years ago in June 1987.

If you are a fan of the movie and are also interested in what happens behind the scenes, then this recent Hollywood Reporter article is worth a read: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/preda...

As is this one from Stan Winston Studios regarding the Predator suit: https://stanwinstonschool.com/blog/predator-30th-a...

Love this film, I know a guy called dillan, and whenever we see him we say "dillan, you sonofabh"

You'd think that would get old after over 2 decades. But it hasn't, not for us anyway laugh

A really enjoyable read that,thankyou.
I remember watching Predator at a midnight premiere at the Odeon in Birmingham.I came out of the showing with the same smile on my face as I had, after seeing Die Hard for the first time!
Think I’ll book a ticket, leave the wife at home and reminisce!

As many have said earlier, still one of the best films of all time for me and the crew!

We have also booked to go and see it for the 30th Aniversary at Cineworld NEC next Thursday, I can’t wait!

So funny, that’s what we did too!

As a result I now have four dvd copies and one on blue ray too, two of them are not even opened!

And yet, for quite unfathomable reasons, it has a 40 score on Metacritic

I think when it first came out the critics were not that impressed.

However as time has gone by, it’s become a classic compared to so many also ran movies in the same genre over the 30 years.

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, it’s easy to see the hand of mcteirnans masterful directing in most of the movie.

I was shocked to learn it was the 2nd unit director who managed the scene in the geurillas village at the start of the film. As you watch it back, it’s so easy to see the poor quality of the static shots, compared the the brilliance of some of the wide to close panning action in the rest of the film under mcteirnans direction.

THIRTY years old? Yet it's still fantastic.

Best scene is when Arnie loosens the truck generator off it's blocks onwards. Put this bit on full sound system and enjoy..The Orchestral score was bang on.

'Stick around'

Eeeee the Arnie one liners.
