Interesting list, nothing to froth about in my view but a few surprises.

By that I mean Casualty actors being the two highest paid actors, and Clare Balding is on a pittance and needs a new agent. Also McEnroe gets quite a lot for what is presumably two weeks work.

Lineker and Shearer should really be binned as that's 3m a year alone and they don't deliver that amount of value in my view, Lineker will also get a massive wedge from BT.
I remember years ago some info slipped out about Hansen and Shearer, when they made MOTD in London both Hansen and Shearer would get a taxi home 'up North' and bill it to the Beeb, £1200 for Hansen and £1500 for Shearer, nice work for the taxi company.

That's £150 an hour (assuming Shearer goes to Newcastle, I don't know). Seems a bit of a pisstake really.

That list doesn't really tell the full story when it misses people like Matt Le Blanc and June Brown off.

Not fussed either way mind as not as mental as I expected.

Okay, say if Evans is on £5m a year, do you not think the Beeb could do something more useful with a chunk of that money?

It's not as though he's skint.
Are you suggesting he should work for less because he's already loaded?
Not at all, although Evans himself said he does it for the love of the job not the money. So we can assume he wouldn't mind a pay cut.

£150,000.00 a year for reading an autocue and putting on a bit of slap?

I don't think most people give a toss over who "presents" the news.

Get someone else in for a fraction of the cost. Maybe put the post out to competitive tendering?
exactly. meanwhile mexico gets weather readers like this (yanet garcia)

Possibly, but then Evans has probably asked for it, and someone at the Beeb has established that they get a return on whatever they pay him.

You do have to wonder how Evans is worth so much. OK It's the most listened to breakfast show in the UK (Google suggest 9 million) so he must he doing something right, but Grimshow and Mayo get around 5 million listeners and they're only on ~£400'000.
Doesn't seem fair to me, but hey ho.

See there's plenty of chatter about the gender gap in pay on some social media highlighting difference between C Evans and C Winkleman for example.

I'd like to see the pro-rata pay scales as comparison - Evans does daily radio show and some TV etc, Winkleman mix of TV and radio but not daily (as far as I'm aware) so not a direct comparison on their overall package. Plus Evans is potentially a bigger audience draw than Winkleman so there is value in paying more.

I'm not fussed either way about the levels of salaries as long as they are benchmark for market place (although the whole market place is probably overpriced). Linekar has said he's turned down higher offers from other broadcasters to stay at BBC.

The biggest surprise to me was that the worlds most boring presenters ever on the One Show are on the best part of a million quid between them.

my opinion of him is still based on watching him in the mornings on ch4's 'the big breakfast'. of which I still think vaughn and denise were better.

Listening to news reports about this, there are various folk are criticising the gender gap and it should be more 'equal'.

Surely true equality should ensure folk are paid based on their worth to the organisation regardless of gender? Certainly if it can be shown that a woman presenter is worth as much as a male presenter to the organisation, but is earning less then there's something to address, but simply saying "those men are earning more so it's unfair" is too simplistic an approach?

How much of that was paid for by you and me with practically no choice in the matter?

Derek Thompson clearly has the best agent in the country, how a guy from Casualty earns more than Dr Who I've no idea readit

I can't see anything shocking on there either, tbh. Evans is polarising so you'll either think he's worth every penny or wouldn't p*ss on him if he was on fire, and then some like football and some don't so that removes Lineker from the sums too. Everything else, meh.

Surprising to see Ken Bruce on quite so much, but fair play to him.

These sums should never, ever have been revealed. By all means tell us how many people are on each wage, but exposing the exact figures (near enough) just feels morally wrong to me.

No TV license fee is required to listen to Radio. So no direct financial return as such.

I think this new transparency is a good thing, might lead to more people cancelling their license fee out of disgust in the short term though.
