What do people think of Mel and Sue presenting The Generation Game and the effect that will have on audiences? My prediction is that it will do better with them presenting it than if they got some bloke from the pub to do it for £50 a night. Because people seem to like Mel and Sue.
I'd turn it straight off. can't stand them. But I can't stand Ant and Dec either - there is a vast amount of money for old rope.
But do you think they will appeal to other people and provide their employer with good VFM?
I don't honestly care since i stopped watching the banal crap that passes for TV some time ago.
I only care that my licence fee goes more to David Attenborough than any other dross.

Given that the BBC is getting paid the same regardless, how important is it that the generation game with Mel and Sue is a success in the ratings? Perhaps they could use the huge salary budget to produce some quality output rather then compete with ITV/sky producing mediocre light entertainment.

Part-time now, but yeah. I do quite a lot of mocap and adverts and stuff these days but still do the odd tv/film thing here and there. Nothing particularly noteworthy and only if it's payin well enough to be worth it!

That said, no 'BBC Gravy Train' for me hehe

How come?

So since they have guaranteed income, they shouldn't concern themselves with whether they are providing value to lots of people, or just a few?

Acting.
YOu say this from your standpoint of being an accomplished good actor?
I'd rather be an actor than a nurse.

I think we can safely assume that Dazed & Confused's experience of acting is limited to playing a tree year after year in the school nativity play. He hasn't thought to wonder why he was never Joseph, a wise man, or even the donkey.

That didn't answer my question. Would Heart pay him £2.25 million to do a breakfast radio show?
Chris Evans isn't paid £2.25m for presenting a breakfast show though... That salary includes his Top Gear earnings.
No, he gets the money for the Breakfast Show. He got £1m for doing Top Gear and another £600k for Friday evenings on the One Show. So nearly £4m in totes.

Please try to stick to the facts.
I'm just quoting the details as reported, the reports indicating the figure reported includes his earnings from Top Gear, where did you get your facts from?

Lots of whingeing going on by members of the public, in my opinion, about the "differential".

Do they really think that Claudia Winkleman and Chris Evans do the same job? Of course they don't, that's why they get paid different amounts.

It's like saying all "drivers" should get paid the same. Chris Evans drives a van for 2 hours a day. Claudia drives a truck once a week.

In my employment there is also something called "performance related pay" so that even 2 people apparently doing the same job can legitimately get different salaries. We are not party to Claudia's performance report.

I think the complaint is about situations where women and men are doing broadly equivalent work. The media have just highlighted Evans and Winkleman cos they then get to quote big numbers.

BBC is really taking the piss to pay them who are so boring and couldn't entertain to make people smile and there are those who are trying their best to keep a roof over their head living on a minimum wage this is just capitalism with power and the mighty wealth of paying the TV license .

Easy solution for the miffed ladies of the BBC...

Reduce the pay of the men to the level of the ladies and say shut up, woman, get on my horse ...

Job's a good 'un.....smile

If the bbc do just say they are going to reduce the saleries of the men, and then the men say they are quitting. Can the bbc then offer them extra money to stay?

How about the men and women working for the BBC look at their wage slip and think "How fking lucky I am, doing a job I like, getting a nice wedge for not doing a lot whilst there are some poor sods slaving away on the NMW"
