Did anyone watch this week's edition of World's Most Expensive Cars on C4 (https://youtu.be/4KNKbxI8WsA) hosted by self professed "passionate car fanatic" Ant Anstead?

The man could not pronounce Countach (https://youtu.be/SUxB8PfE-l4). At least 8 times he coughed up "CON-TORSCH" - confused It was utterly cringe worthy to listen to him cry Throughout the show other experts pronounced the name correctly which made Ant Man's faux pas even worse. Accepted, people do pronounce it a little differently to each other but not Con-Torsch! sonar

Hope he wasn't paid too much for his efforts!

...or have we all been saying it wrong since the 70s and Lamborghini "Con-Torsch" is correct scratchchin

Reminds me of when they got James Martin to do a program on F1, no matter what he does he can't pronounce Formula One, which made for interesting listening.

There are a few ideas of how to pronouncing it depending on whether you're Piedmontese, Italian or something else.

What's certain is that whatever Ant was saying, he's the only person who thinks it was right.

That sounds right, however I tend to say it more like Count-ash.

Piedmontese has it as contacc... The 'regular' spelling is an attempt to force the pronunciation in Italian. More like Coon-tack from what I remember.

The regional dialects can be a bit 'interesting' at times and there are a few of them, often nowhere near to being like Italian. Like what they speak around Udine. I knew a lot of people who spoke the local language first and Italian second.
