Hi folks Im just watching an obvious re run of an Audience with Billy Connelly.
Does anyone actually think this is funny, obviously all the celebrities in the audience apparently did at the time.
Maybe time is a great leveller but to my mind, what a load of Crap

I know nothing about the person you refer to as Billy Connelly. Maybe he was/is totally rubbish.

However, I've always thought that the comedian called Billy Connolly was VERY funny.

I find him a little hit and miss -- sometimes hilarious and sometimes, well, not.

Some of his later introspective, close to dying programs are worth watching.

The best comedian ever.

You have missed the chance to see him live.

I don't find him in the least bit funny, just uses foul language to get laughs...

However, as an actor he is superb, his performance in "What we did on our holidays" was wonderful.

Plus he can play a mean Bango and his documentaries are first class....Route 66 etc.

Love Billy, always have. His travel programs are super viewing too.

I would love to spend some time chatting to Billy, a genuinely interesting guy.

He has done rather splendidly for a welder from the shipyards of Glasgow.

Sadly he now has Parkinsons, so not as able bodied, but what a super guy.

OP, you should watch some of his work, he is superb. Those old celebrity audience programs were always awful, that's a really dated program and under restrictions that don't suit Billy's style of humour and discussion.

An Audience With Billy Connolly was the first ever thing I videoed back in 1984 (?), consequently I know it almost word for word. A couple of the bits have dated such as the cultural references, and the audience shots are a real "Who's Who That" of showbiz. But it is very funny.

His "World Tour of Scotland" and "World Tour of Australia" were works of genius, and his older audio stuff is great. Hunt him out on YouTube and enjoy.

He's by far the funniest live act I ever saw, he can also act, has made very good documentaries and his TV comedy series are hilarious.

I can remember hearing about an incident with him a few years ago in Glasgow. A guy slid on black ice and hit the rear of a black range rover, bearing in mind at the time that was probably the choice vehicle of the underworld I the town. A guy gets out and walks back inspecting the , driver was a bit nervous and the back passenger door opens and out steps Billy, quoting what an absolute bummer, look at the front of your car. he passes the guy his contact details and tells him to get in touch he will sort his car out, not to worry about the land rover as its just a rental....

quality guy indeed. and very funny.

Not funny in the slightest I'm afraid.

Horses for courses though, hence why Mrs Browns Boys is still on TV.

The wrongness is strong with this one.

When I saw this for the first time I thought I was going to pass out. I think I was hyperventilating at one point. I still tear up thinking about it.

We are all entitled to our opinion.

For me, "An Audience with Billy Connolly" is the funniest thing ever broadcasted. I cry with laughter every time I watch it, and I know what's coming. Hilarious.

Sometime in the 90s, I was dragged along with some friends to see his live show

I barely remember any of the jokes or stories he told that night, but what I do remember is having to physically leave the auditorium, just to have a break from laughing. Talk about 'side splitting' - I was in actual pain.

Literally the funniest man I have ever seen.

I've always been a huge fan and I was lucky enough to see him on his recent tour, he is quite ill now and performed on the spot while holding on to a stool, it was rather sad to see the once animated guy standing there but none the less he was still funny.

If you get chance go see him because I dare say he won't be performing for long.

In 'An Audience with' I think he only swears about three times, and it's the funniest thing he's done. Unnecessary imho. He is just the best comedian, with or without the swearing...
