Good opening show. Only heard of about a third of them but then that's no different to any other year! Very good effort by Tess, the tribute was obviously a very big thing for her. Also well done to the Scots comedienne bawling at landing Kev, a great moment. Oh, the three new pro dancers, good Lord almighty, as the vicar might say.

Can't wait for it all to start in earnest now.

Gemma also looked fantastic.

I've decided that Charlotte Hawkins is the female David Coulthard, same cube shaped head biggrin

Great opening show though, hope Gemma manages to stay in for a few weeks (or longer) cloud9

Anyone else enjoy the Vicar's dancer saying 'Oh My God' as they met then realizing what she'd just said and to whom.

And if you believe the celeb news / gossip, etc, today, she's already notched up the first "romance" story of this years Strictly as she's apparently hooked up with Gorka (the one who was supposedly assaulted in Blackpool last year but there didn't seem to be any evidence of it hehe ) due to their mutual love of fitness.

I bet she's a right dirty minx though, I'd put up with the voice if that were the case yum

Ooh, is it starting?

I never did get round to watching the first show. Oh well, not to worry. This is where it starts for proper.

Edit: Oops, started 16 mins ago. Well that's me on time-delay then. I'll check back on the thread later.

Edit2: BBC iPlayer was so crap on quality that I'm watching live again. I'll just catch up what I missed later.

Anyone else think that the title sequence that shows Susan Calman fanning herself as if she is sexually attracted to her male partner is just a bit... well... wrong?

Let's just pretend she's heterosexual for the sensibilities of some of the viewers, eh? rolleyes

Blimey, Debbie McGee hasn't aged well. I thought to myself that she was looking good for her age (estimating it at around 70) and then looked up on Wikipedia and she's only 58. eek

According to Wikipedia, she was a ballet dancer and professional dancer up until the age of 20, at which point she met Paul Daniels and became his assistant. She went to ballet school as a child.

Obviously that was a long time ago, but the body never forgets as my dad's sensei said to him when he started karate at the age of 60 having competed in Judo in his youth. That is to say, it's a head start.
