Alex is addressing the audience in the voiceover so do his looks to camera count as breaking the wall? After a giggle we all agreed and turned over to something else.

Agreed; Francis Urquhart's asides were brilliant.I vaguely remember the main character in the TV version of 'Brimstone & Treacle' addressing the camera.
There's a scene in an episode of The Simpsons where Bart is stoking Homer's paranoia by telling him he's probably being watched. Marge pipes up "don't be silly - no-one is watching us", they all start looking around nervously and end up looking at the 'camera'.

Also, a novel breakage here:
VYVYAN: [obviously reciting verbatim] Look, here comes the postman.
MIKE: Vyvyan, why do you keep telling us what's just about to happen next?
VYVYAN: Because it's a studio set, Michael, and they can't afford any
long shots.

Similar thing happens regularly on 'Hamish and Dougal: You'll Have Had Your Tea'VYVYAN: [obviously reciting verbatim] Look, here comes the postman.

Dougal: Well, here we are on London's busy Oxford Street.
Hamish: Why did you say that?
Dougal: Well, it doesn't do any harm.

The first one I can remember seeing is Michael Caine in the 1966 film Alfie. I like it if done well.
I read somewhere that he was having real problems talking to the camera, until they got the idea of standing someone right next to the camera, and he spoke to them instead. Worked a treat. My favourite line, when he's in the X-ray machine ("Shadders? On me lungs?"):
"Perhaps one day they'll invent a camera that can see what yer thinkin' - be some X-sustificates knockin' arahnd then, I can tell yer."

The one that springs immediately to mind is in Trading Places, when they are giving Eddie Murphy the idiot’s guide to how the stock market works. It’s only for a moment when he looks directly at the camera.
I like 4th wall breaks that are an exception in an otherwise standard comedy format.
lololol I like 4th wall breaks that are an exception in an otherwise standard comedy format.
I believe its a rolleyes moment as it is explained to him about pork belly shares and pork belly being used for bacon like you might find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich.
I love that scene (and film tbh)
