What's going on at Radio 2?

How the hell is Steve Wright not driving a taxi by now? He is just terrible. Constantly congratulating himself (via reading out listeners texts) on a 'great show'. If he says 'serious jocking' anymore regularly he won't have time to play any music. The way he brown noses his guests is embarrasing and he's not in the least funny. Ever.
Rant over. I feel better now.
No G remember...Rant over. I feel better now.

I like Liza Tarbuck too, like has been said a bit bonkers but it goes together so well.
Unfortunately for me, my day starts at 05:15 as I make my way to work. Vanessa Feltz, she just talks too much drivel, drivel and more drivel.
Simon Mayo's show is good to round the day off though especially on a Friday.
I would happily consign Feltz to the pits of Hades. They seem to fill that particular spot with the most odious presenters they can find. Sarah Kennedy was her predecessor, I think? Unlistenable.Unfortunately for me, my day starts at 05:15 as I make my way to work. Vanessa Feltz, she just talks too much drivel, drivel and more drivel.
Simon Mayo's show is good to round the day off though especially on a Friday.

I don't mind Feltz when she does Vines show, she says what she thinks and I don't mind that.Unfortunately for me, my day starts at 05:15 as I make my way to work. Vanessa Feltz, she just talks too much drivel, drivel and more drivel.

Liza Tarbrush has a great laugh, it makes me laugh when she does.
I don't like Mayo's show on a Friday! The music they play on behalf of the listeners is so dull and predictable, the same old every week.
Mayo is very good though, quite sharp witted and a little sarcastic, he's been on the radio now for almost as long as i've been listening to it.

Friday wouldn't be so bad if he didn't speak to every caller, for what seems like hours, before playng the track. More music, less boring chat, please.Mayo is very good though, quite sharp witted and a little sarcastic, he's been on the radio now for almost as long as i've been listening to it.
Saturday is the pits now, we have Dermot O'Dreary, then probably the worst thing to ever hit Radio..Alan Carr and Melanie somebody, just utter drivel..then we have the untallented and inane Zoe Ball, who only seems to talk about herself, Radio 2 is a no go zone for me on Saturdays now. I agree with above JW and PJ are the best they have.
On the plus side, due to the the Saturday drivel I have found some pretty good Internet based stuff, and as always there are bits of 6 Music that are superb.
I also agree with above re Simon Mayo, love his show but afraid letting the great British public pick the music on a Friday is a disaster

You're forgetting Paul Gambaccini whose show is ok. They should swap Tarbrush and Ball around and have Liza on in the afternoon. On the plus side, due to the the Saturday drivel I have found some pretty good Internet based stuff, and as always there are bits of 6 Music that are superb.

Carr and Mel Sykes, Jesus, that's a show that definitely gets turned off very quickly, I think we only have to put up with them for a few months though.
Richard Bacon stood in for someone recently, he was ok.
Radio 2 has evolved over the years. Sadly, the knowledgeable and erudite presenters that I always loved have mostly passed away.
I fell in love with Radio 2 as young teen in the early 70s and I loved Jimmy Young, Benny Green, Sheridan Morley, David Jacobs, John Dunn, Brian Matthew, Desmond Carrington, Alan Dell, Malcolm Laycock, Russell Davies and even Terry Wogan in his earlier iterations.
Later on I also got to like their light classical music programmes presented by the likes of Richard Baker, Alan Keith and Alan Titchmarsh.
From these DJs I learned an awful lot about jazz, classical music, swing and general popular music history.
Now so we are left with, on the whole, a bunch of inane wittering which seems to just fill up air time with nothing in particular. Every show has far too may interviews. If I want to hear people talking, I'll listen to Radio 4. I understand that the recent increase in interviews is actually a cost saving exercise because the more talking, the less music - and playing music actually costs in the form of royalties.

They still do an hour slot of different genres every weekday from 7pm, Jazz, Country, Folk etc.I fell in love with Radio 2 as young teen in the early 70s and I loved Jimmy Young, Benny Green, Sheridan Morley, David Jacobs, John Dunn, Brian Matthew, Desmond Carrington, Alan Dell, Malcolm Laycock, Russell Davies and even Terry Wogan in his earlier iterations.

Check out Giles Peterson on 6 music...good dose of musical vitamins.
Thumbs up for
Trevor Nelson - Rhythm Nation and the old skool show on Sundays
Craig Charles
Huey - just some awesome tunes and very little chat
Benji B for some modern stuff
AnaMatronic - Disco (well general funky stuff)

I don't really listen to Radio 2 during weekdays.
