I caught up last night and have to say I enjoyed it too.

The set pieces were well done, feeling run down but established, the yellow / green tinge to a lot of the shots creates that dystopian feel, the cars reflecting the lack of advancement in technology.

I can understand those that may not have quite gelled with Agent Ross, but I think he played the part extremely well. He suckered Honour into the Union's plan, gaining her (and ours) trust then the big reveal at the end.

Looking forward to next week.

It had the feel of the TV production of Potter's Cold Lazarus to me. It looks like it could have been made twenty years ago. It's not because of the cars, they were at least thirty year old models, it just has [italic] that[italic] look, a vision of the future from a bygone era.

I loved the dreamy fishing sequences.

I, too, look forward to the next installment.

was a bit boring. Are all Philip k dick tales a sort of blade runner world?
If it was part1 I wouldn't bother with the rest but next week is a new story.

No. A number are set on different planets though, can't remember if these are dystopian or not. Bear in mind P.K.D. was a sci-fi writer writing in the time when nuclear holocaust was a very real (perceived) threat, hence many of his stories have post-war settings, new planets, war on other planets etc

Straight from the off it owed a lot aesthetically to BR - vast bulk to the point that what's missing were Spinners, lit inner cityscape, Sid Meyer. This jarred me and ruined my enjoyment. Was it a good thing or bad thing? Then again it could easily been set in the same BR universe, perhaps a ghetto precinct of LA that happened to have Ford Granadas!

Interesting how it deviates from the original: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-09-17/electric...

Another not-a-fan-of-that-one, I'm afraid.

Slow and unoriginal (although being a life-long SF fan, maybe I've seen/read much the same story covered too often already).
And all the telepaths had to do was put a hood on and no-one would know what they were!

Until the HoodMaker started whittering on about "when we used to have computers/internet/etc" I actually assumed it was set in an alternate 1970s, which would have been just as appropriate to PKD's material - there was no reason at all that I could see to set it in the future.

Good marks for effort though and certainly won't put me off the series as a whole.

I enjoyed it, but not overly so. Thought provoking and well done but wasn't as gripped by it as I thought I would be. Still looking forward to the next one and seeing where the series goes though.

That was really really st. Mostly due to a story that seemed to be missing some major chunks of plot.

Waste of time.

I do love a bit of sci-fi, and I have tried my best to like this series (although early days), but I have to admit, I am finding them just a little too arty and thus, pretentious for their own good. last night's in particular was a 'Nothing Burger' for me.

Well presented but ultimately pointless.

I think the theme was basically places get forgotten but relationships endure. They butchered the story a fair bit, in the book the old lady dies on the planet and the crew find an old coin showing it really was Earth; everyone had forgotten it even existed and thought it was a myth.
Ssssh I haven't seen it yet! Sounds like typical PKD though - don't expect massive revelations at the end of the tale, normally just a little sci-fi story with a neat twist. Often so much is lost bringing a book to the screen though.

So I was basically right - there were major chunks of plot missing compared to the original.

Seems pointless to make something from a short story and lose the core along the way & instead chuck in a load of random bits that add nothing.

Another gripe - what was the point in casting a young actress as an old deaf woman beyond the tenuous link to the flashback bits? The makeup wasn't bad but she never sounded or acted anything other than her real (young) age; the voice just didn't match the elderly character.
