Watched the first two episodes this morning.

Really enjoyed them. It has a way, like many Sky Atlantic shows, of making some places seem a long way away!

I'm glad it's good - they've been promoting it a lot and I've got it pencilled in for when I've run out of Narcos to watch.

Just watched the first one, looks good so far. Tim Roth is always watchable, which is good, as it's just him at the moment.

Watched Ep1 last night, liked it a lot - didn't think they'd pass the 1st year in a single episode.
Looking forward to watching this

Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure we get started on this over the weekend. I'm hoping for some great mountainous scenery to go with it.

I quite like how sky have made the entire series available in one go as well, are they finally waking up to the Netflix and Amazon threat?

Up to Episode 5 now after downloading the lot in UHD on Sky Q. Very good so far with a few unexpected twists and turns, and as with every good drama that stars good actors one episode you're rooting for Tim Roth and the next you can't help think what a w****r he is, but that's to be expected as other than the Edward Norton Hulk film he very rarely disappoints.

Of course the UHD does the background scenery justice too, especially on a reasonable sized screen. Tim's missus is a bit of alright too but there is one downside: the bald security chief from the oil company. I keep expecting to see Fred and Daphne unmask him to reveal the janitor and him grumbling 'And I would have got away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids'.

Looking forward to seeing how the remaining episodes pan out.

I quite enjoyed episode 1, but it's all a bit cliché isn't it?

Big bad oil stomping all over the greenery, paying everyone off and/or killing them at will...new, "not frum roun' here" sheriff with a drink problem, hasn't done any research on his new surroundings or apparently met any locals/got the lowdown on who's important in town/who to keep on the right side of...annoying kids, one of whom is pissed off at being displaced. It's not really anything new, is it? Still, it worked for Miss Marple/Morse/Midsomer etc.

On episode 3 - really enjoying it - a bit weird in places but quite dark and very fast moving story so far...

Only on ep 4

But re: production:

I think they are trying way too hard to be a Breaking Bad/Fargo/Better Call Saul, and not reaching any of the heights. You have to be first, or you have to be best.

Music too loud, 'let's get out there', and too intrusive. Shut the fk up.

We've seen all the weird and drone shots before. They are nice but meh. Plagiarism

...as for the story and acting, it's fine. Looking fwd to finishing the plot.

(I love Roth's acting BTW. Have done so since Leigh. 'Lie to me' was fab.)

It's another one where people mumble their lines, so had to turn it up. Not great for late night watching when a scene with some loud music then comes on.

Watched 1 and 2 now, it's very good, but my word it's bleak.

I might have to watch Forest Gump to cleanse my mental palette after this.
