Terminator: Dark Fate
Discussion
After years of sub-par sequels, could we, and the franchise, finally be getting the sequel we deserve?

Quite a few positives in this for me:
1. Cameron is involved
2. Linda Hamilton returns
3. Arnie and Linda will be used to anchor this film to T2, but aren't planned for any further films
4. New cast to become focus of franchise
5. Tim Miller directing
6. Ignoring T3,Salvation and Genisys
7. Cameron feels the draft script is solid
8. Josh Friedman (Sarah Connor Chronicles)
I shuddered when they announce another potential Terminator film (Genisys was a car crash to the franchise), got pretty excited when Cameron was stated to be involved and then became pessimistic when they suggest Arnie would be in it again.
I'm a firm believer that the franchise needs to move away from Arnold Schwarzenegger; I love him as an actor and he is a big part of my love of 80's films but it smacks of a cash grab and flogging a dead horse.
Hopefully his involvement in the film is minimal and sets up a different T-800 or equivalent to take over.

“There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys,” he said, “but there isn’t an example of that for women.”
What about Helen Mirren in Red and Red 2? She was 65 when the first movie was released and totally kicked ass in both movies.
Rene Russo was in her late 50s in Thor 2.
Tilda Swinton was 55 when she appeared in Dr Strange
Connie Nielsen was 52 in Wonder Woman.
Sally Field was 50 in Eye for an Eye
Sigourney Weaver wasn't that far off 50 when she appeared in Alien Resurrection either.
There may not be as many as there are guys - but it's hardly without precedent.

Might fit with the Infiltrator storyline; female human assassin Terminator. SpeedBash said:
Some interesting points in that article, hopefully they get the balance right and do the first two films justice.Cameron was adept at making females the centre of his films, giving us two of the strongest female leads we've seen in Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley (Scott tee'd that one up).
The Terminator leads you into seeing Arnie as the focus and to be fair he owns the screen for most of the film, but the last few scenes really turn it around, especially as Sarah crushes the Terminator with that immortal line.
T2 has a similar approach, Arnie again takes most of the limelight as the protetor but ultimately Sarah comes through again and saves John, the utter devotion to saving her son and the future.
A not to dissimilar theme in Aliens.
