Terminator: Dark Fate

I'd say the finale sums up what I dislike about many modern action films - the heros taking out legions of generic baddies without effort, so there's never the slightest feeling they're in any sort of danger.
Well for me, the finale is a clever one-upmanship. And ultimately, the main goodie dies, it felt like new stuf could happen to me, like INfinity Waredit...ah, I got confoozled, for some reason I was thinking of Endgame...erm, not sure if I felt the danger back in the flicks in 2012...though watching it on the box on Saturday, I had forgotten that Loki stabbed THor and some other stuff....difficult to recall.

Not too keen on this guy, he's a tad too reactive for me, but I have little interest in T6 beyond seeing how it performs. If these leaks are accurate, it sounds like they've made a complete pig's breakfast of the time travel stuff, more than T5

Looks pretty boring, like the other weak sequels cashing in in old glories. THe one bit that I found newish, was the terminator saying, 'why don't you just let me have her?'
Terminators bargain now?
edit
Terminator is about as menacing as a puppy
and the line, 'I'm Sarah connor, I hunt terminators.' Bad writing. Much better to leave the name out. At least they changed the, 'come with me if you want to live.'

Early reviews are looking positive.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm happy to accept it as the T3 that we should have had, but never did have. Great how they showed the young 'T2 Sarah & co' in the opening scene, along with some humour from Arnie and some great nods to T1 & T2. The way one of the skeletised terminators walked was reminiscent of how it walked in T1, in a pre CGI puppetry style, I assume that was intentional?
I'd have liked to have seen Arnie take more of a leading role, as he did in T1 & T2. The only negative in from my perspective is having females (other than Sarah Connor) taking the lead roles like they did in the previous T3 & T5, to me it kind of feels like a box ticking gender equality exercise, when all I want to see in a Terminator film is a typical male orientated film with Arnie being the main character, just like we saw in 80's/90/s action films.
The 'bad' Terminator was played really well, and done in a way that was believable in the world of futuristic time sliding.
8/10
Oh, and I so desperately wanted to see Arnie put those sunglasses on

(This is a repost from my own properly titled thread on the subject, seeing as the movie isn't called Terminator 6, the storyline isn't 6th in the series and this thread was started when the movie was just speculation, but hey ho.....)
To sum up - remake/mashup of Terminator and T2 with women being the saviours of the present and the future.
Kyle Reese is now a bad-ass female soldier and John Conner is a Mexican girl. Their relationship in the future is that 'John' saved 'Kyle' as a child.
Linda Hamilton is there because she fits the political narrative and it pretends there is continuity with the first two movies. Arnie gets to reset the canon at the beginning and provide comic relief later.
Throw in some blatant, clumsy political references to Trump/gun laws/border walls and that's your package.
I went to see it with no preconceptions or knowledge of what it was about. Wish I hadn't bothered. File it with the Ghostbuters remake and Ocean's 8 as 'films that are st but are above criticism because women'.
PS. The final third is too darkly lit.
PPS. I was thinking of recording a 'lobby correspondent' review along the above lines and sending it to 5 Live Kermode and Mayos' Film review show, but it'll never get broadcast and I would probably end up with the police at my door.

It wasn't that bad I thought. The twentytens-everything-is-about-women-being-powerful stuff isn't as bad as in Star Wars. Action sequences are great, acting is generally good given the sometimes clunky script they have to work with, and murdering somebody important in the first few minutes because they're no longer important (because timelines) manages to slide past you without too much outrage. Arnie's presence is pretty bloody far fetched in a far fetched universe, and his wooden humour falls flat as always.
It is basically a retread of T2, but that does at least mean it's way superior to every other post-T2 Terminator movie. Sadly it lacks a lot of T2's charm as Dani is no John Connor. Anyway, if you want to be beaten up for an hour, go and see it in 4DX.

I remember vividly going to the cinema to watch T2 with my mate. When we left the cinema, my mate was flabbergasted, saying that was the best film he had ever seen. I thought it was a real tour de force of an action movie too. Still highly enjoyable now.
Roll on almost three decades, cinema ticket prices through the roof, but the best people have to say about this detritus is 'It wasn't that bad'!
Wow!, OK, you convinced me, will book my ticket now to watch this 'not too bad' identikit modern soulless movie!

The truth is it wasn't that bad, and if this had been the first movie in a series we'd be raving about the premise of the storyline.
But as I said I went in with no preconceptions (I hadn't even read most of this thread) and having watched it I now can't see past the fact that I know the only reason it was given the green light was because of the political/gender slant it was putting on the original story. It doesn't move the canon on at all, it just resets T1 for different characters, and the CGI effects are by no means groundbreaking in the way T2 was.
Seems though that there are two lines of defence for this film - the fanbois and the wokes.

Not a bad film, but a bad "Terminator" film for me. As the above poster said, if this was the first film of a brand new franchise (Terminator never existed before) then we'd be excited by the idea, but as new "T3" it's just not good for the Terminator lore or for long term fans.
Compared to the acting performances given by "Sarah and Kyle" in the original I'm just not sure the actresses in this modern reboot have the ability to do a convincing enough job, unlike the original duo.
