Fairly meh at that.

Sarah says to the transgender person I've never seen one like you before, you look almost human. That'll get the woke brigade knickers in a twist.

They're really trying to sell it - Cameron is in a video raving about this new sequel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxPeVTIanzs

Difficult to believe him as he did a similar video prior to the release of the last one, Terminator Genisys, and we all know how that turned out - he even stated in that video that he saw it as the third film in the franchise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8Xx9agRgS4

+1. Leave alone FFS. First two are classics (like Alien). This sort of rubbish ruins the whole idea.

So conflicted.Soooooo conflicted. ONe the one hand, The Terminator is a seminal film in scifi/fantasy/horror. T2 was one of the best big movies of the 90s. And today?...
Watched the trailer, got a few tingles thanks to nostalgia...but as the alien/starwars/terminator/predator ongoing human centipede belt of poop shows, nostalgia cannot a decent film make. THe action, looks poor, and I don't care about rhe action, comic films can do it better. I want story. But I don't think we'll get it. Plus the terminator has all the fearsomeness of a cocktail waiter.

Just enjoy it for what it is? Or don't bother going to the cinema.
Some folks are expecting too much...even some of a T3 was okay.

I thought T was OK< the last semi-decent one. THe ending though, was excellent.

Looks like a ‘woke’ sequel to me, it’s either gonna end up like Ghostbusters or, Oceans 8.

Will Arnie play the t-800, Sargent Candy or both ?

Hw is being 'woke' a bad thing?
The original Terminator had a strong female lead as the main character, don't remember may issues around that

I'm not going to see a film to be preached at, I just want the film to be good.

What gives you the slightest hint you'll get preached at?

The protagonist Terminator in The Sarah Connor Chronicles was female too, it wasn't any kind of feminism stick used to beat the audience with. And Shirley Manson's character was really great as well.

Is there any hints that this is a preachy film? As said, S Connor was the lead in the first two, and there was a female Terminator in the third, plus the one from Homeland was the other human lead.

The great thing in T3 was they did many of the stunts live.

That chase with the big ass crane was just cool, because they actually did (most) of it, at a time when CGI stunts were really emerging

I really enjoyed the tv show and was sad when it was cancelled.

It’s fairly clear that this terminator film has three female lead characters, the tv show had a strong male supporting cast who were decent actors in their own right.

unless there is a narrative which requires three female leads in an action film made famous by strong male characters (as well as hamilton) i think ‘woke’ is justified as a label.

if more male leads emerge i will happily retract.

I reckon the bad terminator in this film will have one weakness - that is if his power core is damaged he'll die. I reckon the power core will be located in his groin, and one of the strong powerful women will shove a shotgun between his legs, shout something like "check this privilege!" and pull the trigger.

I thought T2 was incredibly preachy tbh, but everyone seems to consider it the best one. T1 was better IMO. But then I thought the story in T3 (how whatever they did, judgement day happened anyway) was good, and everyone slates it, so... hehe

Yeah, T2 was hugely preachy, but that is the right sort of preachy. wink
I agree that The Terminator is the better story, I do like T2, it's a very hollywood film, and sometimes, I like hollywood.
I even like most of T3, yeah it took things too far, but hey, it still had a lot of great stuff.
I've posted it before, and no doubt I'll post it again, but Georg's vid is excellent.

T2 and T1 are quite different sorts of film. I like both equally. I’d almost go as far as saying I like T3. More for the premise, which I thought moved the story on well, than for the execution which was a bit st! The idea of Sarah Connor having lived long enough to see the date of Judgement day passing but that it’s inevitable, and mostly that Skynet would be software rather than a box somewhere made lots of sense to me. I didn’t mind the Bale film and would have liked to see more of the future war. Genisys was a genuinely terrible film. Not sure this looks like it’ll be good from the initial trailer but I’m interested

If we're ignoring all the others, is this the longest stretching trilogy with the same protagonist?

Linda Hamilton plays Sarah in 1984, 1991 and 2019, that's 35 flipping years, plus Arnie obviously biggrin
