Daughter wants one and was looking at Crosley Cruisers but the reviews are so bad she's agreed that she doesn't want to get something which may damage records.

So looking for something which won't damage her records. She's not an audio buff at all so it doesn't have to be great sound quality. Oh and it has to be white!

Thanks.

Quite a bit more expensive but may as well do it properly.

I have the previous model and it's great.

I believe it allows you to plug the turntable into a USB port and "rip" the record to MP3.

It means one that sends an out-signal to USB. Handy if you want to hook it up to your computer, to play the record or record it. Really handy, as long as it doesn't only have a usb out. You want a phono one if it's gonna route out through a hifi amp/speakers.

This device is a revelation in this regard - first quality turntable to have USB out. Up til now they've been garbage, like that thing OP mentioned.

Connect to your PC or laptop and you can record, via software, straight to your hard drive. From here simply burn on to CD or transfer to your digital music library.

Urgh. I've just been a little bit sick in my mouth.

There's also the Project Essential 2

or, if you don't mind used, the Rega Planar 2 is an excellent choice. Depends on how much automation you want.

OP, not sure if you realise, but if you go for one of the above mentioned turntables, you'll need an amp and speakers too.

This obviously won't be the case for the one with USB as that could play through a PC and it's speakers (albeit with inferior sound quality).

Sorry to be a nerd but, to be exact, an amp with a phono stage...(probably MM at this price point) or an amp and a phono stage...

Just noticed my post, rather unhelpfully, did not contain a link:

Lenco L-3808 make a lot of sense imho; reviews have been great ( for what they are worth ), Hi-Fi World's review in June 2017 was very complementary. Has a phono pre amp built in and can output via USB too to make ripping archiving easy too. £154.00

That certainly looks better than the modern skeletal decks that are going to get dusty as f***
Quite tempted by one of those and getting my 70s vinyl out of the loft.

Chuck an extra £70 at it and get an Audio Technica LP-120.

Why though.......the AT apparently sounds pretty good but I've certainly not seen anything to suggest it is any better than the Lenco. Every review I've seen of the Lenco has raved about the perfomance. OP's thread title says the budget is £150.
