This is one seriously fooooked up country we live in,
https://youtu.be/PopPlAXcWDE

I don't know you fix it but the inequality in this country is getting more and more of a joke.
I don't suppose the goatee bearded directors on here give a flying food if they can screw someone down another penny though.

The rich get richer the poor get poorer.

I can't help feel that the internet shopping age has accelerated this. Everything is a race to the bottom, very little profit/pay for anyone except the handful of at the top.

Professor who? Professor of what, which university?

<googles>
Oh. A multi-millionaire ex-drug-dealer rapper, apparently best known for being married to somebody from a very rich family who was once on a "reality" TV show about ridiculous ostentatious wealth.

Right.

Yeah, you've hit the nail square on the bench there.

Poverty must have a new meaning.

If you have an iPhone, fags, and Sky TV you are officially living in poverty.

Funnily enough, were you asked to describe the typical setup of a person living in poverty you would probably include those things. Or as Pistonheads would term them: 'council'.

When I was younger families with little or no money walked round with holes in their shoes with sheets of cardboard in the bottom of them.

Nowadays poverty has been dumbed down so that you are officially poor if you have last years Nike Air Max.

You were posh! I'd have killed for a strip of cardboard to shove in my boots.

Times change, in the 1850's poverty meant dying of cholera.

Me neither. In fact, I had Dunlop Green Flash so I imagine that's abuse of some sort or other?

I don't think giving up the iphone or fags is going to solve the problem. Certainly, giving up fags will free up some small cash, but the situation will still be the same.

If only we provide free education to allow people to better themselves.
For example...

If people don't take advantage of what is on offer, then whose fault is that?

You never had Nicks or Gola? Lower end of the poverty spectrum.

Exactly, I mean, one of the little urchins split an infinitive! Won't somebody think of the .... oh.

There are many barriers to partaking in a full rewarding education, kids don't work too well when you can't put food in them though.

Well that's clearly all there is to it then. You didn't pay attention in class & I don't care if it was because you didn't have breakfast or you're under threat of eviction for rent arrears or your dad is in jail or you're a carer even though you're just a child or any one of a thousand societal issues that bear on life outcomes, IT'S ALL YOUR OWN FAULT!!

But surely this stems from people who can't look after themselves having children?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for people taking responsibility for their own lives, however, I personally believe (as pointed out in the video) that poverty has now become the norm. The working class can no longer afford to live, wages just don't pay enough.

When I was a kid my mates dad was a postman. He could afford to buy a half decent house, car etc and raise 4 kids. You try living on a postman's wage today!

The education thing, the kids are kids, it's not their fault their mum didn't make the right choices in life.

On the other hand, you've got Millionaires just down the road trying to decide which type of pearlescent paint code they want on their 3rd Aston Martin. How much money does one man need?
