So I've had my 991 flat bedded away for the second time in 2 weeks and I'm starting to wonder what is happening to the Porsche marque?

It was in for 1.5 weeks as they were so busy. It's gone back again today and I've been warned it might not be back until mid to late October - because they have had such a huge spike in cars being delivered through failures.

Anyone else on here suffering?

A 520d estate. So basically a like for like car (not).

On the upside it was only registered yesterday so spanking brand new. I haven't driven it much yet but it's a nice place to sit - if rather dull to drive.

What were the symptoms of your breakdown?

There’s another guy on here called Alan. His 991 is an early one and has been back a few times. His last such thread wasn’t long ago.

I suffered with both my 991s, the first one particularly. I don't think Porsches are that reliable now, so I also run a Land Rover to make them appear reliable.

So the first instance was a cooling system failure which ended up being vacuum system related. At the same time I was getting a squeak when engine turned off. I paid for a belt to be changed - After a couple of days the squeak has started again but now it's also on start up. Porsche assist (aa) turned up and said not to drive and flat bed away. He thought it sounded like a metal on metal sound - to be it reminds me of a worn bearing/motor sound. I will wait patiently.

My FF had a transmission failure and it took about 2 months to get it back - so a couple of weeks does not sound so bad.

This guy made this video a few years ago (991), serious issues with his 991 and porsche. But they refunded his money later I think?

I don't think he was alone.

What about a Toyota?

Although to be fair the only cars I've ever actually rejected were a Porsche 991 and a Toyota Hilux.

Land Rover unreliability phenomena is quite shockingly true though. We had two brand new in the family, Freelander and Disco TD5. The most problematic cars ever, only managed to keep them two years. On a shocking fact, I'm finding myself now getting an evoque as a daily to share with my fiancee, as she loves them and can only drive automatic. laughloser

Most unreliable car I have ever owned, including my first two banger Fiestas, was a Toyota Landcruiser - the proper, full-fat, 6 cylinder Amazon model, not the 4 cylinder Colorado model.

Yes Land Rover score 39% for reliability according to Which? My friends disco is forever going in for something I wouldn't expect to go wrong for under 100k miles - but OH loves it!

My 997 had a few minor problems, which were all covered by warranty.

The 991 seems ok so far - apart from a slow puncture on the rear!

My 981 is proving far more reliable than my 987.2, which had so much work done under warranty that it almost put the insurance company out of business wink

That said the 981 hasn't been perfect (coil pack and other electrical issues, some of which Porsche can't find/fix) but I've had it almost a year and the mileage has gone from 20k to now approaching 50k. A quick glance at autotrader and it looks like mine is one of the higher mileage cars around.

It'll be interesting to see how the car feels as the mileage increases, nothing worse than a soggy handling sports car.

RRS and a full fat Rangie. Two freelanders and now a Disco Sport and they have all been fine. No real issues except a couple of switch off and reboots of the info systems.
