If this is a joke based on the notion that there may have been 2048 previous films in the series, then it is utterly hilarious and you should be very proud of yourself. Do have a biscuit.

There has been ONE previous Blade Runner movie. Granted it's been released in several final edit versions.

Watch any of them (perhaps more than once, there's a lot going on) and you'll be better prepared for the 2049.

Unless there are flashbacks - I suspect the first one would be essential viewing.

Think of will Smiths I'Robot.

live in a world with robots but they look human, they start going wrong, so a special police force is hired to track them down (blade runners) the government decide to ship all human looking robots to a different world,.

Many years later
some escape and come back to earth, blade runners are retired as there was no need for them,
thus they come out of retirement.

fight scenes, guns, flying cars etc.

and that's the first film.

oh and the robots only have a 4 year life span.

Depending on which part you're quoting, it's either "[Is] that part of the test?", or "Is this to be an empathy test?"

IMHO the differing versions affects how you interpret the film. Since owning the boxset I prefer the workprint version.

Imo the first is essential.

2049 is incredible. Truly stunning movie. I had obviously high expectations and it far exceeded them

Good in parts, but a little too long for me, have always been a Massive fan of the original film, cinema was half full as well.

I thought it was one film that used time very wisely and would have been poorer for being rushed.

As someone that has watched various versions I am happy to say hat I genuinely thank that the first movie is a 'must see' !!!!

Please do not watch the new one without seeing any edition/version of the old one....

Btw - I haven't seen the new one!
