Still absorbing and processing but, in short, a masterpiece, and all the better for not being rushed.

So many echos of the original. Simply stunning.

Have to agree here.

Just watched it...and WOW....

Enjoyed every minute. Thought the soundtrack was amazing, and really added to the setting. The pace was fine by me. It's a long film, but didn't find myself bored at all....it could have been an hour longer and I would have enjoyed it....found myself completely lost in the world.

Still have a lot of thoughts running through my mind over it. As a piece of cinema, I think it was utterly brilliant!

Big fan of the original, this one was a dissapointment. If this film had to stand on its own it would rank lower than poor, I nearly walked out I was that pissed off.

It's been a while since I have been to a cinema, but I cannot ever recall such a completely immersive experience with a film before. The place was not full admittedly but after one guy walked out at about 10 mins in, can honestly say there was not a murmur from anyone. Not a fidget. Not a cough.. not a single Malteser set free.... just rapt attention through to the credits.

Went as an avid fan of the original (Director's cut for me) and was fully prepared to hate this. I came away thinking Wow; fantastic attention to detail and impeccable continuity with the original as far as I could see. Genius film making on every level

I get that it's something of a marmite film, but I'm curious to know why you think it was so poor.

The original was packed with large amounts of technical details, very science fiction, the whole premise of the film introduced the film goer to a potential future of exciting possibilities for development, for better or worse.

The latest version had little to no advances over the interviening 20 or so years of development.

The production itself at least in the Vue cinema I watched in had very poor sound quality to the point where the few people in the cinema kept looking to each other asking what had just been said!

Perhaps I was looking for more than could be expected given the impact the original had on me all those years ago.

What a crock of st. I watched the first one and was not a big fan. Sound wise, brilliant visually amazing but so slow. A few people walked out as well and i was bored waiting for each scene to finish. Also same story in a way as battlestar galactica with cylons having kids

Just back and it was...ok. I’m an enormous fan of the original and thought this should never have been made, but couldn’t help but feel excited when the reviews came in...but it just didn’t blow me away.

The cinematography is incredible, of that there can be no doubt. And the story/acting was good enough...but I think the soundtrack is what is making me cross with it. Utter zimmer-by-numbers with a CS80 thrown over the top. As an electronic musician, Vangelis’ original is just a masterpiece. This could have been any Batman type movie. It has none of the melodic sentimentality of the original that worked so well in context to evoke ‘memories of green’. Very disappointing.

Have to agree on the soundtrack, nowhere near the Vangelis original and now I'm curious to hear what the fist guy came up with before being ditched for Zimmer. Overall very good and surprising a studio allowed a long, slow, artistic film like this to be made. Mainstream audiences will hate it and there will be a lot of walk outs, but stuff 'em.

Wow , it's a big yes vote from me . A superb sequel and a excellent stand alone piece of cinema . But probably not for the more impatient type of viewer . 8.5/10 . The sound quality was loud & clear at the Everyman cinema in Chelmsford .

Just watched the original again, not seen it since the eighties and been meaning to watch it again for ages, good god what a piece of art, not much story (enough) but as a spectacle it is epic, and as a fan of Synthwave the music is perfect as well, now ready to see the sequel.

echoes my thoughts, nice to see movies being made that take the time, and don't need an overly complex plot or lots of action scenes, stunning visuals too

Not seen it yet. Not sure I want to.

Loved the original but never saw the director's cut. Did they sort the scene when the lady replicant in the see thru plastic outfit gets shot and falls thru multiple panes of glass?

Always jarred that on such a brilliant looking film it is obvious that the lady is now some big bruiser of a stuntman in a wig lol

Big fan of the original.
I enjoyed BR 2049, it was at times visually stunning. It was long (there were scenes that could have been cut or shortenned) but if this is the 'director's cut' at release then so be it.

I went to a 2015 showing last night and given that the audience (half full) was mostly adults over 40 it was surprising how many people got up to go to the loo or grab another drink or what ever. Several people just walked out, maybe 6? Which I haven't seen before.

It is a beautiful film with strong performances but did think it was a little bit self indulgent and trimming it down would have tightened it up. I think a more musical score would have helped.

Absolutely worth seeing.

Is it?? I’m near certain that’s her - I just looked at the scene again (I only have the Director’s Cut) and can’t see a bruiser!

Didn't they re shoot some of that bit for the Final Cut?

I believe so - though comparing the Final Cut to the Director’s Cut most of it seems to be in the chase leading up to the glass...I’m not 100% sure though.

One of my favourite scenes in the film - when Blade Runner Blues kicks in as all the background sound stops and it moves to slow-motion is just sublime film making.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the cinema release with the VO and happy ending funnily enough.
