Haven't seen any threads on this, so being as he's one of my favourite characters, I thought I'd start one. I wasn't too sure about casting Jon Bernthal, too skinny, but he worked in Daredevil. Let's hope they don't do an Iron Fist.

They've finally stopped the teasing and given us a date, 17/11/2017 on Netflix. The latest trailer gives a bit more background on him.

I'm looking forward to this one. Punisher is one of my favourite characters, and was the only reason I ended up watching (and really enjoying) Daredevil on Netflix, and the way he was handled there gives me high hopes for this series. I don't mind him being 'too skinny' though, I prefer this character to be more realistic looking, rather than the ridiculously pumped up cartoon character he's based on. Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson did good turns as Punisher without looking overly macho.

Punisher was never a physically large man.
I recall thinking Stringfellow Hawk would have made a good Punisher way back, when I read the comic. He looked exactly like my fave artist at the timer drew him.

You've a good memory.

I remember Jan Michael Vincent as being quite fit, don't remember the Punisher well, other than the usual superhero physique in his uniform. Certainly not tall and thin.

All the film actors were imposing physically.

I don't know a great deal about the punisher. The trailers look good though. Love how the sound effects match the music.

Time for a little research

I do for certain things, I dredged Ron LIm's name up, but from a quick look, I don't think it was him.
I was a big comic book fan way back, Punisher was one of my regulars, along with War JOurnal, 99% of active heroes started to be drawn hyper athletically in the late 80s, that defined look was in. For anyone small to Hulk. Different artists drew PUnisher different ways. I preferred the slender version. I don't recall a meatball version. But I had my favourite artists.
Punisher is a regular guy (former marine so athletic), that was his MO. Tom Jane is defined but smallish, Dolph was all wrong, as was the Brit, Ray Stevenson, now they had swapped Stevenson around with Dom West, that'd fit pretty well.
Joe Berthanal seems perfect.

edit
Had a quick loo, it's possible that Todd McFarlane was the artists, but as I don't have my originals it's difficult to say, can't find any decent covers from the time period.

Yep, positive reviews so far, while avoiding spoilers.

Had a look on ebay for some early Punisher comics. Yes, although a big , he did have an athletic build, rather than the bodybuilder one he currently has.

He's hardly got a bodybuilder physique. Yes he's muscly, but far from overly so.

That chat earlier sent me off on a nostalgia trip. The specific artist I was thinking off was Whilce Portacio

When the KIngpin batters him.

Although; Jim Lee, Todd MacFarlane and Rob Liefeld were US faves at that time too.

yes

I’ve enjoyed all the Netflix Marvel series so far, apart from Luke Cage that we failed to finish.
